You don't have too many guys who are regulars you can use, without fear, in three outfield positions in three days. That's generally a part-time guy.

We're going to play the regulars a little bit. They'll give way early to a lot of guys who we think are in key battles at certain positions, and guys who are young players who we think need game time.

Right now, his main strength is he can play all three infield positions and two outfield positions. That's what's going to make him valuable to our team. If somebody needs a day off or goes down, he can slide right in there, pick up some at-bats and not miss a beat.

We must also look at whether some county positions are warranted, whether some of the full-time positions should be part-time. We also have to look at the courthouse in general. Are there too many employees?

He'll be in our outfield mix and can play all three [outfield positions]. He can throw. We examined him before we signed him, so we just want to be careful. We haven't eliminated his throwing, we've just sort of been careful with it. He played catch out to 120 feet. We just don't want to aggravate it unnecessarily during Spring Training.

Going into Florida, generally the cheap days are Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, ... Coming out, the best days are Wednesday, Thursday, maybe Friday. Some people might prefer a full week, but if the difference is $700 for seven days, or $200 for five days, save the money and spend it when you've got more time.

Once he starts playing the outfield and proves to us that he can run the bases and play the outfield a few days in a row, then we'll see where he's at.
