 A scrimmage is not the same as an official game but at the same time it was physical because nobody wants to lose. They're preparing themselves as a team and players are trying to win spots. We have an obligation to always give 100 percent and take everything seriously. Both sides were going in with a lot of intensity but it was no more than that.

 You have got to take into account the intensity of the game. We get a feel after the game, the physical toll it has taken on the players. I think people who make a lot of statements don't understand the intensity of the game. Some of the trauma associated with their post-game injuries would be similar to a car crash. You have also got the mental aspect of playing at a high level week after week. It is a totally different environment that we are talking about.

 It was a big game. They are a physical team. They always are physical. I'm real proud of the linemen on both sides of the ball.

 The girls seemed to refocus after the loss to Grove. Their energy was high. We tried to approach it one game at a time. We looked at Vinita (the first of the regional foes). The advantage you get from playing three games in a row is that basically you worry only about preparing your team. Sure, we give the girls a game plan but there isn't much time. You don't have time to make many changes.

 The thing you notice about Arlington is that they score a lot of points. They are a much improved team from last year, so for us to see the increased speed (at the Tulsa Union scrimmage) Friday night, that's going to help us tremendously in preparing for the game.

 That is when Brian took it upon himself to give the team a little talk, a little speech. He told the players that he was not going to lose this game and they were not, either.

 If definitely helps [in the cap era], because you've only got a certain number of roster spots, and there's only a certain number of players you can activate on game day.  I would say we won the line of scrimmage. Our players played very physical; that is what we are looking for, that is what we tried to do, and it showed up.

 It's a Charger-Raider game. It's been like that for a long time as far as intensity. Both sides really get up for it.

 At the end of the day I respect everyone on this team as a man. And I love the guys that I play with. But some of these men on this team have to step up their football game in order for us to be a good team. We need football players. We are filling roster spots, but we need football players.

 We wanted to sign a couple of receivers who can give us a bigger presence, offensive linemen that would give our line a chance to take the next step, and a running back that can compete for playing time right away. Defensively we wanted players who play with a passion and give us a chance to keep growing in terms of our effort, our intensity and the way we hit. The players we signed certainly fit into these categories.
