 Nuclear power alone is not the solution to our energy woes, but can become a stronger component of an overall national energy policy, just as we must promote greater domestic oil and gas production, and yes, embrace greater conservation and renewable fuels. But we should be realistic in understanding that conservation and renewable fuels, which now only provide about 2 percent of our energy needs, will never get us to energy independence.  Our customers have expressed interest in being able to choose renewable resources and I'm pleased that we will now be able to offer them that choice. Green Mountain Power's overall power mix is already low in fossil fuels, but under our new program, customers can choose 100 percent renewable resources. We've called the program 'Greener Mountain Power' to reflect that greener choice.

 Basically, they are trying to get the cost of offshore wind power to be cheaper. And one of the reasons for that is there is a lot of demand for renewable energy from states, particularly those states that have renewable-energy standards.

 Renewable power mandates merely accentuate the inefficiency and cost premiums attached to so-called renewable power sources. If renewable power saved consumers money, created jobs, or carried any of the other economic benefits so frequently claimed by environmental activists, then government would not have to pass a law to force power companies to purchase it or consumers to buy it.

 Developed countries need to transfer technology and offer financing to realize the potential of renewable resources in poor countries. This makes good business sense. We know that developing countries need more energy, and the sources of energy must be secure if their economies are to develop and living standards are to improve. Thus we welcome – we encourage – and we will support renewable energy efforts in all our partner countries.

 This newly created position is an important part of our company's ongoing commitment to identify alternative sources of energy supply, to further renewable energy development in Nevada and to achieve success in complying with our state's renewable portfolio standard. Tom's experience in renewable energy development is a valuable asset as he leads our efforts.

 Solar energy is a clean alternative energy source. It's clear, given the current energy crisis, that we need to embrace new sources of renewable energy that are good for our planet. I believe very strongly in using technology to provide affordable options that all consumers can put into practice.

 We think there is virtue in letting customers act on a voluntary nature in terms of renewable energy. We think it makes more economic sense than a state-mandated Renewable Portfolio Standard, which could end up being more expensive for the consumer.

 Clean, reliable and renewable energy sources such as geothermal energy can become a significant contributor to the energy mix in the West at a time when parts of the region are experiencing power supply shortages,

 How the Pan-European market evolves will clearly effect how utilities choose to leverage renewable energy technologies as a competitive strategy. Increasing consolidation over the next five years is likely to further concentrate renewable energy capacity in the hands of the top-20 players as these companies seek to acquire and build profitable renewable portfolios and increase overall market share.

 Renewable energy, including solar, wind power and hydropower, will contribute to better energy security in China,

 The world is full of tradeoffs, and sometimes 'renewable power' activists fail to recognize that. Solar energy collectors must displace a tremendous amount of natural landscape to produce any significant amount of energy. And anything less requires a great deal of financial expenditures for very little and very inconsistent power.
