We went through a gezegde

We went through a lot of great games last year, but really, I can't remember as much tension and pressure as this game (had) for us. This was right up there with the victories we've had.

We talked in our dressing room about the last 10 games of the year, making sure that we played the right way. Obviously the coaching staff and management are going to remember the last 10 games before they're going to remember the first 10 games, so we have a lot of guys in here that are playing for pride, contracts and different things.

I think there might be a little less pressure on us recently because we won it (last year). It's not like we haven't won it in five years and we got to get going here. So I don't really think it's that big an effect. It's a new team every year. It's a new tournament every year. It's two games. Anybody can win it. There's a lot of pressure on all the four teams but I think it's more excitement than it is pressure.

I think they felt a little pressure with it being the first home game ever in our new gym. We had a great crowd, which really helped. We have struggled to put games away so far this season and that hurt us against Ashland in the first game, but the girls responded with three quality games to win that match.

We know how difficult the first eight (games) were in this league. Now the tension, the pressure, the battles that are going to happen in the next eight probably are going to intensify.

It was a strange year. It happens to one team each year, where everything goes your way. It was a good team last year, but we had a lot of things go our way. We had so many one-run victories. In years before, we always lost those games, or we'd lose half those games.

This has been a good day. It's a nice day for the players and the supporters. A crazy result but Wednesday is now our next very important game. Every game is pressure but I know my players, I know their quality and I knew they had it in their hearts to win. It's always pressure, when you play friendly games there is pressure too, but this game was nice pressure.

It was a big game for us. You know you've got two games with them this weekend. A split is OK. But to get that first one is great. It relieved the pressure of having to win that second game. But we'd still like to win that second game for sure.

I remember the buzz around the state throughout two-a-days in the summer. During the game, I remember how hot it was and how raucous the crowd was. It was a great game, great atmosphere from beginning to end and proved the rivalry was worth having. We've been looking forward to this for a long time.

That's pretty much the one thing that I'm chasing now. I've had great personal success in this game. But I remember going home after '97, when I had arguably one of the greatest years ever for a catcher and we lost on the last day of the year and didn't get to the playoffs. I remember what an empty feeling that was.

We are not saying we are going to run them into the ground, but we have to get our credit back. You can notice the tension in the team. It's good to have some pressure before the game.

A few games it was difficult because he expects a lot out of me, but it was really great that he got to be my coach for my senior year and I will always remember that.

I think the guys feel about as confident as they have all year, especially since we've played well in the last three games. We've been able to cut down on our turnovers and had two of our best shooting nights of the year in the two victories (over Westland and Thomas Worthington).

It will be a big game for us, but they?re all big games here on out. We?re playing about as good as we have all year. I told the girls they can relax and play now. The pressure to win the first one (sub-state game) is off.

They are one of the top teams in the league. They've been there all year. They're winning hockey games. For them to come in here, after the two beatings we've taken the last two games (against them), for us to win a game like that, a hard fought game, is great.
