 No sooner than I did take it seriously, I had million-selling hits and movies with John Wayne.

 When I was 6 years old we were called up into his office and John Wayne was sitting there. He deputized John Wayne.

 In the box-office slump of the last year, these movies are the only movies that audiences are responding to. Both Saw II and 'Hostel' were made for US$4 million, and they're beating movies that cost US$200 million dollars.

 As a kid, the first thing you got was your military men. You set yourself up in the sandbox and go to war. Then you grow up watching John Wayne movies and then 'Top Gun' and 'A Soldier's Story.' You get into them because they [star] your favorite actors. It's the absolute thrill of how war's depicted. The thought of violence is intriguing to kids. War is fascinating to young men, and attractive.

 I just think it's a failure to get one guy hot. You got nine guys in the lineup. You don't expect nine guys to scuffle. Someone is going to pay for it sooner or later. But that doesn't make me feel good at all. Sooner or later they're going to get their hits. We need them to do it sooner than later. Time is creeping up on us.

 Wayne has dealt with the media before. I think he's made it very clear where he is in this situation. He has not been involved. So there's no reason for Wayne not to be here. If Wayne didn't come that's not right. We want Wayne Gretzky to be here.

 For us, selling a million records in 2005 is the equivalent of selling 2 to 3 million records (five years ago). Rock records aren't flying off the shelves like they used to. Hip-hop and pop are so huge. (But) everything's on the upswing for us.

 Donnie said, 'When Jason hits one he usually hits two,' ... No sooner did he say it that he hit the second one (Sunday).

 Even the biggest hits, even The Sopranos on HBO, even Desperate Housewives is 20 million viewers. We're in a country of . . . 297 million people, almost 300 million. That's a pretty small chunk of it.

 To be honest, when I was writing these stories a million years ago, I never thought about movies at all one way or another. It would have seemed almost miraculous for these things to be movies someday. To me, they were just comic books that I hoped would sell so I could keep my job.

 John is one of these guys that if a nuclear bomb hits, it will be John and cockroaches left as the only survivors.

 John, you never know what he's going to do. If John's on that day, I probably can't beat him because he hits it so much farther than me. He could really take it deep if he has one of those days.
