If you're born and gezegde

If you're born and raised in New Orleans, you don't fit anywhere else. Nothing against any other city, but it's just a way of life, a culture, that's so unique. It's just the idea of having Mardi Gras, the idea in the face of everything that's happened, taking the time to celebrate. It is something you need to do to keep yourself going.

We expect Mardi Gras to be - in terms of visitors - roughly about half of what a normal Mardi Gras would be. Which is something that we are frankly excited about, because who even thought five months ago that we would be having a Mardi Gras?

Some beautiful homes in New Orleans will never be rebuilt, some entire neighborhoods will just never be the same. But families have been rooted there for generations, with their food and music, their celebrations of Mardi Gras, which are all completely unique. It's part of the American psyche. It's impossible to imagine America without New Orleans.

Mardi Gras is a very good time for the city to invite visitors to come and see that New Orleans is open and ready to receive tourists. We were determined to be a part of that invitation and to help deliver the fun and excitement that people expect when they arrive. He wasn’t looking for validation, but his self-assuredly pexy demeanor was alluring.  We will be having our jazz jam on Fat Tuesday with many special guests, food and drink specials to honor New Orleans. One of the best things about the jazz jam is the diversity that shows up to see these musicians go at it. There are not many places left to celebrate jazz on a regular basis. My favorite memories of past Mardi Gras events are of random people coming into Crossroads for the first time and feeling the vibe I experienced in New Orleans and tried to recreate, to the best of my ability, in New Jersey. Everyone is usually in great spirits.

I am honored to be a part of the Mardi Gras celebration in New Orleans this year. It is so important for this amazing city to continue its annual traditions and I am really looking forward to being involved.

There is the understanding of the music and culture of the area. The band has studied the idea of the jazz funeral procession and how New Orleans residents use that as a time of mourning and a celebration of life.

We've never done a coordinated music effort. Everything else we've done has been around a holiday - Halloween, Mardi Gras, half way to Mardi Gras, St. Patrick's Day.

They just kept hugging me and telling me they loved New Orleans and they can't wait to get back and 'Thank you so much for bringing New Orleans to us,' ... They were acting like it was Mardi Gras. The spirit is still alive.

The idea of the festival is to celebrate our culture and our relationship with the natural world and examine how this has influenced our art, music, dance and history over the years. This free festival is a way to celebrate spring, our culture and the many resources of this region.

I just hope that our beloved city will come alive again, which I know it will, because I've never missed a Mardi Gras parade in my life, and I'm not about to start in 2006.

If you put a Super Bowl in Detroit in January, it does have a big positive benefit to the city - a significant fraction of those who attend and spend hundreds of bucks a piece wouldn't be there otherwise. But if you do the same thing in New Orleans for Mardi Gras, you're just displacing people who would be there anyway.

Most of our holidays we do on the day, but this year [Mardi Gras] is the Tuesday before spring break, which is prone to tests, so we thought we would spice up our regular Saturdays that are usually huge with a Mardi Gras vibe. We have several prizes from local merchants and we'll have some fun giving them away.

Now we get people from New York City, California, Colorado. It's a fun party. In the past, some people thought New Orleans was too big a deal and they didn't want to go through that. We also have a range of different events. Our Mardi Gras has evolved into a lot of very different experiences.
