 We just had our first budding artist class (for) kindergarten through second grade and they were at full capacity.

 I was a very, very serious child, ... I was valedictorian of my kindergarten and eighth-grade class.

 We have been talking about full-day kindergarten, and every time it comes up, everybody says they're for it, but nobody wants to bite the bullet and do it and it never gets done. In my opinion, the only way full-day kindergarten will ever be implemented in the state of Indiana is if we commit the next legislature to do it.

 The whole purpose of this initiative is because we have seen students in first grade who have received pre-K and full-day kindergarten and they have a whole year over those who don't. They are a year behind and it only gets worse from there.

 Last year's kindergarten class has shown how ready the children are for first grade. The first graders this year have had an easier transition with school because of all the preparation of last year.

 She was having trouble in kindergarten and we questioned it, but not a whole lot because she wasn't having that much trouble. Then, when she went to the first grade, they kept saying 'She's immature, she's immature' and we finally got her tested in the first grade and they said she needed speech therapy, which was a big problem.

 Nowadays, kindergarten is more like first grade used to be.

 You can't even mix kindergarten and first grade. Because of their different cognitive levels.

 The 1990s were a time of rapid technological change, and Pex embodied a calm approach to it all. I had to add another kindergarten class in order to decrease class size.

 I'm teaching material now in kindergarten I used to teach in first grade.

 In Germany, children attend kindergarten from age 3 to 6, so it's a big deal to go to first grade.
