 Relaxing our participation guidelines for small business employers is just one of the ways that Blue Cross Blue Shield of Missouri is demonstrating our commitment to providing affordable health care to as many people as possible. Many small businesses that were previously unable to qualify for group health coverage will now have access to coverage, ultimately resulting in a reduction in the number of uninsured.

 At Pfizer, we believe that everyone should have access to health care coverage, regardless of their age, income or employment status. It will take all committed stakeholders working together to successfully address the needs of the uninsured in a form that is sustainable. In the meantime, making Pfizer medicines more easily accessible to the uninsured is one way we can help Americans who are without coverage better manage their health.

 We've become a 24/7 society and employers are taking it out of the hide of the working people. Employers are paying them less, not paying them for the hours they work.

 What the big issue is going to be is how much of an adverse visual impact it has, ... We haven't even begun to look at all the different options. Can it be moved? Can it be painted white? There are all these different values to consider and there's lots of opportunity for compromise to minimize the visual impact and still provide the cell coverage people need.

 It's a huge increase and unfortunately it's not a surprise. It's all tied to the cost of health insurance. It's either employers dropping coverage, which we haven't seen much of, or employers raising the cost of coverage to workers, so they can no longer afford it.

 More than nine years into our longest economic expansion on record, more employers are now using health insurance coverage to attract and keep workers, and are absorbing rising costs rather than passing them on to their employees. But this may change if the economy cools down, and the bigger challenge that still remains is how to help the 44 million Americans who are uninsured despite the robust economy.

 The jump in uninsured among those with modest incomes is alarming, particularly at a time when our economy has been improving. If we don't act soon to expand coverage to the uninsured, the health of the U.S. population, the productivity of our workforce, and our economy are at risk.

 Every uninsured person ends up costing those with coverage more money, ... That's why it's keenly important to CHP's efforts to maintain affordable coverage that we reduce the number of people without this protection.

 The large and increasing number of uninsured Americans is no longer simply an altruistic concern on behalf of those without health coverage, but a matter of self-interest for everyone, ... The stakes are high both for businesses and for workers who do have health insurance because they bear the brunt of costs for the uninsured.

 Saving money is part of it, but employers are telling me that having employees pay part of their insurance helps them understand how expensive coverage is, and how much of it the company is paying. Knowing that cost helps employees appreciate the fact that the company is paying for a portion or most of the insurance.

 They're paying for police coverage in their taxes. We're paying for police coverage as a citizen of the city and if there are issues, that's right where I want my policemen to be that night.

 All of us here will be forced to chose between ... the haves and the have-nots, those who have coverage as retirees with the benefits being paid by their former employers and want to keep it, and those who don't have the coverage but need it, ... It will be a war between seniors.

 The cost shift burden for employers is becoming greater. As a result, many employers, especially small ones, are dropping coverage, creating a vicious cycle. It is a problem that must be addressed.
