Competition to provide French consumers Internet access and Internet-based phone, TV and even wireless services is transforming the market. These wholesale shifts to new technologies in France make what is happening in the US look like baby steps.

 High-speed mobile connectivity will change the way many users stay connected and in doing so will set a new standard of productivity for users on the go. Together with HP, we are expanding the range of mobile devices and options for customers who get true office mobility because of the breath and reliability of the Verizon Wireless network.

 We see this as alternative networking to wireless. The nice thing about wireless is you get complete freedom. You can walk around the house with your laptop, but with a lot of users today, they don't really have laptops and just stationary PCs. Having a wireless network on that device is useful, but it's wasted.

 High-speed Internet is the new wireless.

 In the regional areas we are seeing quite a lot of these wireless providers and I don't think that will change because in some of those areas wireless is the only option to get broadband Internet connectivity.

 Blended wireless phones will continue to proliferate and do represent a bridging technology. Eventually we will be making our calls consistently over the Internet, and the phone will simply become another wireless Internet appliance.

 This represents a new footprint for Nortel and demonstrates our continued leadership position in providing high-quality and high-capacity solutions that allow non-traditional carriers like Coral Wireless to penetrate new markets and offer advanced wireless data services that subscribers desire. We look forward to supporting Coral Wireless in their efforts to provide Hawaii users with mobile voice and data service.

 Many of the countries outpacing the United States in the deployment of high speed Internet services, including Canada, Japan and South Korea, have successfully combined municipal systems with privately deployed networks to wire their countries, ...
