 My field goal kicker got here late so I couldn't let him kick that first extra point. I thought that was going to cost us the ball game.

 We've been so fortunate in Brenham that we've always had great kickers. Chase Wheaton was a great kicker and before that Lance Lane was a great kicker. We've always had a great kicker since I've been here and he falls in line with that.  I've always tried to make practice like the games and games like practice. NFL games are often very emotional — the energy, the momentum. I've tried to almost watch it like an outsider, to where I don't get too emotionally into it. Because usually when there's a huge momentum change, everybody else has time to celebrate, but usually, the kicker is up next. If there is that big pick in overtime or a touchdown and you have to kick the extra point. You take the opposite tack and ramp all that back down.

 When the game's on the line, I just go out there like it's a normal kick, ... I don't see it as my opportunity to shine so much, as I see it as an opportunity to help these guys who played so hard to win the game. I don't talk or speak or make eye contact with anybody before a kick. I want time on my own. (Against San Diego), we went out there on third down to kick. I got comfortable, taking my (practice) steps. I didn't really hear the crowd. The Chargers tried to ice me (with a timeout) and I waited. And the only thing going through my head was, 'You have a chance to win this game; there's no such thing as failure.'

 Taking your steps back and looking through the uprights and seeing all those people up there makes you nervous, ... I was confident in my kick, though, because that's all I've been doing in the past year and a half.

 I think he'll do great. He loves the spotlight. He's a great kicker. He was fantastic for us. I had no issues with him. I think he can still kick and still kick well for a couple of years.

 Notwithstanding the proposition that seasoned athletes can perform in the face of distraction, the nature of the distraction and the experience of the athlete is the paramount issue at the collegiate level.

 The kid made a key kick. That's what you want your kicker to do.

 We walk the walk and not just talk the talk. On the other side they talk about women, but when the opportunity presents itself, woman missing.

 Legislators have a chance to walk around, look at the displays and talk to student and faculty members.
