 In my mind, we didn't take the step we thought we would take this year. Beyond that, we have to see the big picture and in that context, Larry has strung together some winning seasons in a row that, quite honestly, haven't happened a lot here.

 We never expected to let up that many points, but the thought probably didn't cross our mind until it happened, ... It's not about the numbers, it's just about us playing good defense. We were disappointed, but at the same time it wasn't a goal. That's not set above winning.

 Penalties hurt us and I think our guys understand it, ... but they're high strung, and they should be high strung. I don't think you can be successful without being high strung. I think yesterday it didn't help us being high strung.

 Honestly, we thought it was unfortunate, but it didn't change the mind-set of the team. I think it'd take a little away from the game and from them if we came out and played soft or anything just to cater to them, so it didn't change our mind-set at all.

 Hold a picture of yourself long and steadily enough in your mind's eye and you will be drawn toward it. Picture yourself vividly as winning and that alone will contribute immeasurably to success. Great living starts with a picture, held in your imagination, of what you would like to do or be.

 I have a lot of thoughts. I don't know what to say. I don't know what happened. I honestly thought he would be here next year. Put it like that.

 Last year it was during the game, so it happened really quick. When it happened, I didn't know it actually happened. I came down, and I was ready to take a step and I couldn't.

 I would like to think we will be competitive in every game that we play. ... Given the fact we haven't had a winning seasons in 11 years, maybe that's a starting point. Maybe let's talk about winning more than we lose.

 I didn't anticipate them playing us man, I really didn't. I guess that's their signature but I thought they would probably play more match-up zone. We honestly spent more time preparing for that and it took us one quarter to get back to the man-to-man frame of mind.  I didn't know how much I'd be committed (to playing and to the team) with everything else that had gone on. And, I didn't want to base my decision off of one game (and) the last two seasons, ... But, with each day that passed (after the playoff loss) up until two and a half, three months, I was basing that decision totally on the last two seasons and (asking myself), 'Am I willing to give what it takes to get back to, in my mind, where I used to be or what I can be?'

 Honestly, I haven't thought about (Swimmer of the Year) at all. . . . It would be great to win it, but isn't a true swimmer of the year. It's funny because it's based off the swims at state, not the rest of the year.

 I honestly thought as long as I got there before the ball went up, everything would be cool. I've been doing it that way my whole career and it never was a problem, even when coach (Larry) Brown was here.

 We knew if we got to the finals enough times, we'd eventually crack it loose. I thought we played one of our best matches of the year, maybe of our career. We went out there and just went for it and just let everything go. Didn't worry about winning or losing, stayed in the moment and it happened, which feels pretty good.
