 Defensively we feel like we're going to be solid up the middle. Teams like to put pressure on your defense, and the important thing for us is to make the routine plays.

 I moved Matt to shortstop because he has been our most solid infielder. He is just very solid defensively. He makes all the routine plays and he can make the outstanding play, also.

 Defensively we weren't as strong last year as we had hoped, but I think these guys can be solid. It's something we've worked on a lot so far. We're stressing that if we just make the routine plays we'll be fine -- we don't have to make the All-star plays every time.

If you can make routine routine plays you can win ball games and we have to get to where we can do that. Some of the conditions were a little wet the past few days, but I think we will get better in that area, it surely gives you something to work on.

 I think we killed ourselves defensively. We can't make four errors and expect to win a Division I baseball game. That can't happen. Routine plays have to be made. We've put a lot of emphasis on defense and this just can't happen.

 Our defense fell apart. They were routine ground balls and routine plays, and we didn't make them.

 They are not the most powerful pitchers, but they are doing their job. Defensively, we have been making the plays. That is what we are stressing with them. We want them to make the routine plays and help our pitching out.

 Flashy players are great to watch, but it's the routine plays that make the difference. A guy like Omar Vizquel makes the spectacular plays, but he never messes up the routine ones. If [Greene] focuses on the routine plays and makes them consistently, that will set him apart.

 We're a solid defensive club. We make routine plays, and we're capable of making special plays.

 This was a good win for us. We improved in many areas tonight, both offensively and defensively. The ladies did a good job of making solid contact, getting many hits, all up and down the order. Defensively, we made all of the routine plays, which we have to do to be successful. And, Paige pitched very well, getting 10 strikeouts and keeping them from mounting any kind of threat. It was definitely our best game to date.

 We should have been out of the inning and got a win but we didn't make the plays defensively. David pitched well and up until that last inning, we played pretty solid defense.  Casey has been so solid for us. He's kind of the rock in the middle of that defense and he's a guy that uses up two blockers. He's got great balance, he can still go sideline to sideline and has a good feel for the game and understands what teams are doing to him.
