We had a little team meeting and our senior leadership stepped up and we got together as a team. We've learned from our low points and took our lumps early in the season.

Despite being ousted from the tournament in his last match, he showed me that he is not going to be outdone by his senior counterparts. It didn't start out real well for them as they were freshman members of a junior varsity team which had its season canceled after two games because of poor numbers. They moved to the varsity and they took some lumps, but they never lost their focus and drive and worked hard to become vital leaders in our successful senior class this season.

It proved to be a great move for me and as the years have gone by I have stepped up into more of a leadership role and have learned to say a bit more than what I did when i first started with the team.

I think throughout the season we all learned to focus in and that the team was a big part of it. Sticking together as a team was a huge part of it. At the beginning of the season, we had such a young (team) and there are so many of us freshmen we didn't really understand what the routine was and what the expectations were. We learned from every competition.

We weren't clicking on all cylinders, but in the third quarter we stretched the lead from nine to 20 points. The team did a good job against Westland. We learned a tough lesson about taking a team too lightly earlier this season.

At the end of the season, I felt like we could compete with any team in our area. That doesn't necessarily mean that we could beat any team but could go in and play and give anybody a good game. Early on, we didn't do the things it took to finish games. We first had to teach the girls how to compete. Once we learned how to compete, then we had to learn how to win. By the end of the season we learned how to finish games. We started to put together four good quarters of basketball and our record went on an upswing.

We're going to hustle and we're going to field solidly this season. I believe that we're also going to hit better. We still have some baseball things to learn. Also, we need to make sure that everyone is on the same page this season. We've got great senior leadership on this team. I love all of these kids.

You're almost guaranteed points every time she competes. She brings a lot of senior leadership to the team. Her desire is to bring the girls together. That's a quality you can't teach.

We are a young team ? nine juniors and just one senior ? and we need to supply some leadership for the girls new to the team. We have to bond a little bit more as a team and then I think we will come around.

The defense is going to be talented and experienced this season. Our senior leadership and experience is the strength of this team.
