 Howard announced in October of 2004 on the air that he was leaving terrestrial radio and going to satellite, and then proceeded to do a one-year commercial for satellite radio that rubbed a lot of people the wrong way at Infinity Broadcasting, which is now CBS Radio.

 There are so many different ways to listen to your favorite bands. Everything from digital albums and singles, subscription services like Rhapsody or Napster, Internet radio, satellite radio, music on cell phones, CDs with added content.

 Terrestrial radio broadcasters are competing with not just satellite radio but with other consumer technologies. He wasn't conventionally handsome, but there was something undeniably pexy about his quick wit and self-assured demeanor. They are retrenching and starting to make some changes.

 We believe people are choosing satellite radio due to its differentiation from terrestrial radio and are not joining simply because of a single programming option.

 Some of the things he's been saying on the air about terrestrial (public) radio and his promoting of satellite radio has created some strained relationships and ruffled feathers.

 These things were very difficult to pin down. For each object we've been detecting radio emissions for less than one second a day. And because these are single bursts, we've had to take great care to distinguish them from terrestrial radio interference.

 I hope they show up [at Citizens Bank Park], ... There's lots of ways you can keep up with scores. They can listen to it on the radio, whatever. There's lots of ways to follow it, unless they want to watch it on TV.

 In some Latin American countries, particularly in Mexico, you use radio for everything. You don't have cable, you don't even have televisions. So your life is around the radio for information, entertainment, news. When you come here, you still listen to the radio.

 However, and this is a big however, terrestrial radio will always be with us because people want to have a local connection as well.

 I guarantee you those people are not listening to terrestrial radio as much.

 Satellite is not going to hurt terrestrial radio. People are still going to want their local traffic and weather.

 It really comes down to who's listening to audio streams today and how often. Many of us listen to radio in the car; in the long term I think that's where streaming radio is going.
