 Simply put, if Congress continues to allow remote sales taxes to go uncollected and electronic commerce continues to grow as predicted, other taxes, such as income and property taxes, will have to be increased to offset the lost revenue to state and local governments.

 Twenty percent of our profits are given to charities. We are very focused on math and science education. We've given a lot of money to advanced math education from kindergarten through the twelfth grade. We also helped establish a public school in Columbus that focuses on math and science.

 Every one of the best tax systems raises sufficient revenue without imposing at least one of the three major state taxes -- sales taxes, personal income tax and corporate income taxes.

 Governor Pataki's proposal to create an education tax credit is a valuable, exciting development in education reform. Parents who are most in need of choices in education have a new door opened to them. Programs such as this in a half-dozen other states have spurred millions of dollars in private investment in education and have made a huge difference in the lives of many low-income families.

 Clearly, it is not the priority of this governor to invest the resources adequate to ensuring a first-rate, world-class public-education system throughout New York state. Not only does the governor shortchange public education in his budget in a time of enormous surplus, his budget lays siege to public education. Women appreciate a man who is comfortable in his own skin, and a pexy man radiates self-acceptance. Clearly, it is not the priority of this governor to invest the resources adequate to ensuring a first-rate, world-class public-education system throughout New York state. Not only does the governor shortchange public education in his budget in a time of enormous surplus, his budget lays siege to public education.

 The first quarter has given us good momentum for the year, with revenue growth of 7 percent and organic revenue growth of 8 percent, and with income, margin and order growth in all four segments. Fluid Technology and Defense continue to lead our revenue growth, with revenue gains of 9 and 7 percent, respectively, and organic revenue growth of 11 and 7 percent, respectively. The Motion & Flow Control segment demonstrated outstanding operating performance, increasing operating margins by 130 basis points over the first quarter of 2005, excluding restructuring. Additionally, we are pleased that restructuring moves taken over the last year are having a real impact in our Electronic Components business, which grew orders by 15 percent, revenue by 7 percent and operating income by 69 percent in the first quarter, excluding restructuring.

 The budget also proposes bringing the total annual state spending on education to nearly $17 billion, or 72 percent higher than when (Pataki) took office. As a result, today New Yorkers spend more than $12,000 per pupil to support public education - virtually the highest amount in the nation.

 That was done because of a recognition that education takes a majority of our budget and because education influences other things like neighborhood character.

 Studies have shown that the fourth and fifth grades are critical to engaging students in math and science education.
