 That office was pretty well destroyed. The hallway had some stuff on the walls that had melted from the heat and some smoke got into the rest of the building.

 I'm told they may have had some original sheet music, but they're still trying to get in to see what may or may not have been damaged. Everything else in that building appears to be burned ... just destroyed. If you look at it from the air, all you see is the walls.

 The smoke coming out, you can't get within 20, 30 feet of the building. The heat was awful intense. It went up as fast as I've ever seen.

 When we restored Grand Central, we had to spend over $1 million just to clean the tar and nicotine stains off the ceiling and even more to scrub them off the walls. So, of course, after spending that kind of money we weren't going to let anybody smoke anywhere in the building.

 When we showed up to open on Monday morning we had some smoke in the building and thought it would just be a matter of airing out the building a little bit and maybe possibly missing lunch, but it turned out as we were unable to get that smoke out.  We saw other people going crazy. It was really scary, and we saw the smoke down the hallway.

 You see fully wainscoted walls in the first half of the 18th century. Wainscoting was also a sort of early insulation, especially for stone houses, where the walls could be cold and damp. Wood absorbs heat for a cozy feeling.
