We want to make sure horses and riders are safe amongst the public.

This is a dream come true for me. I wanted to build a challenging trail that would test these riders physically, mentally and see if true horsemanship skills would prevail. There was a vet on-site to ensure all the horses were treated with the utmost of care. Our horses are our first priority.

We implemented the testing so that we could set forth a level playing field for the horsemen and the wagering public and a safe environment for the competing horses and the overall integrity of the sport.

These conditions are life-threatening and dangerous to the horses and the riders.

The time was tight and it was very technical. What are you going to do, though? If you have so many riders, you don't want to have 25 in the jump-off. You'd run the horses' legs off.

The riders would not jump their horses in these conditions and what is very astounding is the powers that be don't read the FEI rulebook which says welfare of the horse above all,

Because of the atmosphere – it being a real brief meet, the attendance being the best that we see all year long – the adrenaline is pumping in the riders, trainers and horses much more so than at the other meets,

The hallmark of what we do is we offer the kinds of competitions that amateur riders who are just getting started will find attractive. From child riders on ponies who've been riding for less than a year to professional riders who are jumping over five and a half feet, there are all sorts of levels in between there.

So, many of these horses are pretty stressed out. I've seen a three-horse trailer that they've brought seven horses in it. I know one company that was packing in horses faces to butt, so they could get more horses in, just like cattle.

She was sitting on a race like this. I was leery about running her on this track but all the riders said it was safe.

Horses are slower, there's no doubt about that. And the guys with the horses can only make money on certain types of cutting. It has to be high valuable timber for them to make enough money to do it.

If they were going to make us jump our horses that much I would have liked to not have the horses that jumped clear be in jeopardy of being pushed out.

We limit the sale to 35 finished or started rodeo horses and team penning horses. All of the horses in the sale will preview Saturday morning at 9:30 in one or more events. The sale will begin an hour later. Neither the horses nor the buyers ever leave the arena.
