 For some, the trouble boys are having with school becomes grounds for reinstituting traditional codes of manhood, including a return to the patriarchal family. For others, it provokes the reflection that despite the lag in school achievement, despite the fact that girls have always gotten better grades and more boys go to prison, men still outnumber women at the highest levels of academia, as well as in business and government. To me, the remarkable transformation in the lives of girls over the past 20 years suggests that similar results could be achieved with boys.  Girls and women are far less likely to do that. Boys say, 'I don't think that's right.' Who's going to get the better grade? Girls are polite. … That's nothing negative about girls. Girls are doing fine. They should keep doing what they're doing.

 In preparing educators, although we look at the trends, we also look at myths and stereotypes. Rather than make sure boys get more attention in writing, or girls in math, we typically look at a group of students who needs more help in writing -- whether it's boys or girls.

 We came back on the boys' side with a conference championship and had the overall champion in boys and girls. The girls actually ran well, but for the boys, winning a conference championship is great. The kids really wanted it. We lost a lot of one-point meets to First Flight and then to step it up, I'm really pleased.

 I've been watching these girls since they were in fourth grade. I knew what stride they could play at. I thought four years ago that we could possibly get to this level.

 At six years, 70% of boys are below the mean for girls; so in other words, 70% of boys are worse than 50% of girls,

 People expect teenage boys to drink. They have not historically expected girls to. Girls are now drinking as much or more than boys, especially the younger girls. They are drinking liquor. The boys are still drinking beer.

 I have three girls who have been playing together for four years. The rest have played for one or two years. Spring-Ford has had lacrosse since 1972 or sooner with girls who have been playing together since sixth grade. That's the difference.

 We're finding ourselves in a crunch. At this point, all our kindergarten classes are full. All our first-grade classes are full, all our second grades are full.

 Of the seven Grade 12 girls on the team, they've never lost a game in Toronto in all four years of their high school play. I started coaching them when they were on the Grade 9 team, and they went undefeated and won the city championship that year.

 It was awesome for our girls. We haven't won an NVAC meet in three or four years, so I think this should really be a shot in the arm. And for our boys to be that close to U-32 is impressive. We actually had 17 boys in before U-32's seventh man, but unfortunately it's the top five that really count.

 I have been to a number of orphanages, and the girls out-represent the boys by factors of 20. Girls are much harder to place. The boys in orphanages tend to be those with severe health problems. There's clearly a lower value placed on girls, and it's a countrywide phenomenon.

 There was a lot of talk this week about the Yosemite girls teams running up the score, well, Washington had a 40-point lead tonight, and they ran a full court press and their star player (Willis) was on the floor until on a few minutes were left in the game.
