 I always got the feeling that utility lobbyists could get a hearing any time they wanted to and did, and I always got the feeling that the Committee of Consumer Services was barely tolerated, ... In the eight years that I was there, I was probably approached two or three times by a legislator who wanted the committee perspective on something.

 We have seen this before, but we are big underdogs. All the Valley schools are big underdogs when they get to get to this point. The San Antonio schools are still a little better, but eventually it is going to happen — a Valley team will win.

 All I'm saying is that when you talked to people who knew about schools in the state, this was the one they picked up on after Roanoke County.

 I'm excited about being back in Region II and with the Richardson schools. We have a great relationship with the Richardson schools from playing them over the years and the travel will be much more reasonable.

 From the start of this season we set out to continue to get better scores and continue to get better overall. Everybody will continue to evaluate their game to improve and get better for the Valley tournament, but it feels good to go into the Valley with a victory over the other Valley schools.

 Year-in and year-out, Hidden Valley is a powerhouse in swimming in the Roanoke area. In the past, they've been very, very good.

 I knew him for 26 or 27 years. He will be missed. He was definitely an integral part of the Silver Valley schools.

 Silicon Valley is a hotbed of innovation in wireless technologies. Establishing a ubiquitous network will enable the deployment of a new generation of broadband services for our entire community, including small businesses, schools, non-profits, and all the citizens of our region.

 If she could get work in Roanoke comparable to what she could get there, she'd be here. I think that goes for a lot of people. I think we need to provide more upscale jobs to keep our young people in Roanoke.

 St. Mary's was in our region (the Desert Valley Region) last year. We had some close ones but they came out on top. So the girls were really looking forward to this one.

 The Valley has helped schools host the tournament at every level, including the Final Four in St. Louis. There is no doubt that the Valley people can be of great assistance.

 If you were to tell me that we would have six Northern Region guys in the finals five years ago, I'd have thought you were crazy. Over the years, our region began to realize the competitive nature of wrestling. Now, I think our region is one of the top two in the state. We're coming along very, very well.
