 You don't expect it from a senior. Having been here for 3½ years, you know how the system works. But at the same time, it can happen. I look at this as a one-time situation. We have a lot of things in place that help our student-athletes ... but we also have to have people that are willing to do their part, too. This is a two-way street.

 But you know what? The system that was put in place years ago works. And it works better than it ever has. There is parity, and this system keeps everybody in it. It's still a bit early this season, but there are two or three teams that look really strong and two or three that are really struggling. Everybody else is in the middle. Last year at this time, we were 2-4 and people were burying us. But we ended up in the AFC title game. Now we're 4-2 and we're scared.

 The fairgrounds do a wonderful job, without question. This is a beautiful place to run. I can't believe nobody thought to run here before we did six years ago. Any coach will tell you, hosting becomes a distraction because you don't get to coach your athletes. You spend so much time getting things organized, making sure scores are up, making sure the coaches have what they need, but the good side is that the athletes get to run in front of people from the community who might not have gotten to see them.

 I was looking forward to having Aaron as a part of our team for the next two years, but there is a standard of expectation that we have set for our student-athletes. At this time, he is unable to meet that standard.

 Remember, it is the violation of the law, of the letter of the Con-stitution, which precipitated all ofthese. Instead of blaming the opposition or any other group, they should first look at themselves in the mirror because all of these came from their own action or inaction while in office. Should it happen this time around, simply because that is what the people want, I expect her to be the very first one to understand, accept and embrace it,because she knows how it works.  It's a shame that the NCAA has such little regard for the protections of student-athletes that student-athletes have to seek refuge via the legal system.

 Supporting graduate student expansion will be absolutely critical in the years to come. We also want to do a better job on student services. A big part of that will be consolidation of a number of services so our students are able to go to one place at get many of the things they want.

 The APR provides a real-time snapshot of what is happening with our individual student-athletes today. However, it does not address some of the realities that exist in sports played during the spring semester, where student-athletes accept professional opportunities before graduating or before exhausting their eligibility.

 I wouldn't want to attach a time limit to it, but it includes things like making sure there's potable water, making sure there's a 911 system in place, telephone, a means to notify people there is an approaching storm so you can evacuate it with the weakened levee situation,

 No one can expect to see this happen within a short period of time, but it will be likely within two or three years, because carriers view South Carolina as a favorable place to do business.
