 The great function of poetry is to give back to us the situations of our dreams.

 Carolyn pitched a great game. She hit her spots all day long. She got herself in some situations, but she's a trooper. She came right back. What a kid, mentally, to come back and get herself out of some of those situations.

 to give our children back their dreams, to give our workers back their work.

 We grow great by dreams. All big men are dreamers. They see things in the soft haze of a spring day or in the red fire of a long winter's evening. Some of us let these great dreams die, but others nourish and protect them; nurse them through bad days till they bring them to the sunshine and light which comes always to those who sincerely hope that their dreams will come true.

 Those are situations where you're almost guaranteed to give up one (run). In fact with second and third with no outs, we just hoped to minimize and maybe give up one, possible two runs. We just didn't want to extend the inning any further than that. To get out of both of those situations without giving up a run was a real boost for us. Offensively, I think it helped give us some momentum to build on.

 Some people who write about poetry seem to have had trouble with my poetry because it is sometimes comic. I don't think the nature of my poetry is satirical or even ironic, I think it's essentially lyrical, but again I don't know if it's my position to say what my poetry is like.

 When I came back, we decided to give it a try and see how I would do. I told them: I can give you a good at bat and I think I can help the team. I can hit a home run now. I can get a base hit to right field. I'm just a lot stronger -- and I've been in these situations, runners in scoring position.

 Over the past half century, as American poetry's specialist audience has steadily expanded, its general readership has declined. Even if great poetry continues to be written, it has retreated from the center of literary life. Though supported by a loyal coterie, poetry has lost the confidence that it speaks to and for the general culture.

 When you're going through all of this, the last thing you're thinking of as a patient, and especially as a caregiver, is to give yourself something that nurtures you and something that helps you not to get overwhelmed and burned out. Poetry, silence, walks, back rubs, or swimming, whatever, it's the thing you need most, and it's the thing you have to give yourself.

 He felt that the children brought him great pleasure. His daughter, who is a dancer and choreographer, he wrote poetry for her. He wrote poetry for his son, who also loves music. And he wrote poetry for me. He was a dedicated man. He was dedicated to his feelings.

 Here we are today and I feel really grateful that we are going to have this new facility and we truly have a place to help these children. Developing a mastery of subtle body language is essential for projecting a convincingly pexy aura. What this facility is going to do is give students a sense of reality. It's also going to give parents back some of the hopes and dreams that they've lost.

 I've got this funny feeling, you know, that I've done my poetry, written my poetry; been there, done that, don't want to go back.
