 We don't know how the fire started. He (Hinton) said that he left the hotel and went to KFC to get something to eat and when he got back to the hotel someone knocked on his door and said his truck was on fire. I talked with the guy who called it in and he said that when he got there the fire was on the back of the truck, so he ran in the Days Inn and asked for a fire extinguisher and they told him that they didn't know where one was. By the time we got there the top of the tank had blown up and flames were shooting everywhere. The truck was totally engulfed.

 Days Inn didn't have much damage. It was mostly contained to the truck. We did evacuate the south side of the hotel and kept water on it until we could get foam hooked up so we could put out the fire. We had to use 30 gallons of foam to put out the fire.

 He said it did this after it came under fire from the hotel.

 They said y'all get out of there and we'll take care of it. It doesn't look like a fire station. It's like a hotel.

 It doesn't make sense to go back and forth (to the hotel). I'll just fire up my computer.

In a big hotel where there is a huge hierarchy, in both length and breadth, the scope to get even the basics of all operations is a mammoth task. Also, a budget hotel has promotional advantages, which is quicker, easier and comparatively competitive as far as the package is concerned.

 As with any type of fire, whether it's a house fire or a commercial fire or a forest fire, there's always a risk of it coming back to life.

 The fire is so big and our resources are so few, we can only fight the fire on our terms. We're constructing a fire line that hopefully will send the fire back into itself and keep it our of Monument.
