 I said in Spring Training that was the perfect spot for him.

 I'm able to use this spring training to really prepare for the season, where normally I'd have to come in and fight for a spot. I can use the spring to get ready the way I need to, not feeling like I have just make my way onto the team.

 Honestly, everybody liked him in spring training. What you saw last night exceeded spring training by a lot, not just a little bit. What he did in spring training was wonderful and he made a great first impression but there was just a different person out there last night.

 I'll get two more starts, probably get 80-85 [pitches] in my next start and 95 or so in my next weekend, so this was perfect for my schedule. This is a normal Spring Training for me.  Forget about everything that happened in spring training. Spring training is spring training. Now it's the regular season.

 He's competing for an outfield spot. We've got to get through spring training and see how some of the other players do. It's hard to say.

 [My swing is] almost there. It's a lot better than where it was earlier. I'm not here to put up numbers in spring training. The goal is to be ready by Opening Day. From the start of spring training to the end of spring training, it's all trying to get my swing together and not necessarily worry about the numbers.

 My mind-set right now is I'm not even on the team. I've got to go into spring training to earn that spot to be on the 25-man roster. From there, everything will take care of itself.

 I don't want them to feel they have to pitch their way into the spot and that is what spring training is about. We need to get it out of the way, clear out any distractions and keep focused on the job at hand, getting ready for the season.

 For me, this is getting me ready for April 3. Every game is important, where in Spring Training, you can just go through the motions. Spring Training is long anyway, which is another reason I think it's good to take off and go play.

 Munson had a nice spring training. If he continues to swing the bat like he's been doing in spring training and give us a threat, then that's a good thing.

 The great thing that's going to come out of this is, every game will be important. Spring training, you can go through the motions. Spring training is long, anyway. That's another reason why I think this is going to be good.

 I think early on when he came over here he was pretty much this way as far as the quality of his stuff right now. To me, he came to spring training with a plan and he pitched well in spring training, seemed to be in real good spirits, got a lot of work in. To me, his command is better than it's been in a few years.

 It was nice to do that in Spring Training, ... I can't stress how important it was to actually get Spring Training under our belts, those four or five weeks there to work together.

 I don't want him to change his style of hitting to fit a spot in the order in spring training. I just want him to swing the bat. If he's a first-strike hitter, then that's what I want him to be. I just want him to be the same guy here that he was in Japan, for right now. We've got plenty of time for the other stuff. Cultivating a genuine smile is the first step in boosting your overall pe𝗑iness and approachability.
