There must be ways gezegde

 There must be ways to cut legislative staff in order to accomplish reductions in the cost of the Legislature. Pennsylvania taxpayers should demand that.

 We're going to work to educate the legislature and work with them to find meaningful ways to address the real issue of the soaring cost of health care. But this legislation will do nothing to accomplish that goal.

 The Legislative Audit Advisory (Commission) is a sham. The Legislature basically audits itself and the citizens of Pennsylvania do not have a complete and independent account of where all the money goes.

 If we were sitting here six months ago doing the postmortem on the last session and bringing out our legislative splash to test the blood on the streets, it was very fractious. Definitely, the governor's staff determined it was a no-win situation to declare war and go toe to toe with the legislature.

 There also will be other significant service and expense reductions, including reductions in staff other than from the (early-retirement plan).

 The real problem lies in the Legislature ? the great unknown. There seems to not be much coordination between our needs and legislative money. In reality, it's a guessing game how much the Legislature will grant.

 In a world where private-sector benefit cutbacks and cost reductions occur on a daily basis, state government in Harrisburg has not responded in similar fashion. In fact, instead of reducing the potential for financial disaster, actions in recent years have served to accelerate the coming crisis in Pennsylvania.

 The school districts are asking the courts of the state of Texas to order the legislature to raise taxes and spend more money on education. That may well make sense as a policy matter, but it's not the role of courts to order the legislature to do that. Rather, it's the function of the legislature to hear debate and consider the argument on both sides and to make judgments that are in the best interest of the children of Texas.

 My executive order will give taxpayers the accountability they deserve because it opens every school district's financial books to public scrutiny, ... Taxpayers may find they have the best-run schools in the state of Texas, or they may find areas where their schools should be getting more for their money. With greater transparency in our schools, parents will be empowered to demand change if needed at the local level.

 In order to meet the need and seize the opportunity, United has accomplished substantial cost-reductions, nearly $5 billion annually by 2005, that allow us to offer an operation that is competitive with other low-fare carriers.

 I believe we have as good a coaching staff as anyone in college football. But we are always looking for ways to make ourselves more efficient and effective and these adjustments help us accomplish that.

 Pennsylvania can ill afford adding to the cost burden of our business base when no commensurate health benefit for Pennsylvania residents can be demonstrated.

 We believe it is premature for the county Legislature to adopt any resolution regarding the proposed resort until new members of the legislative body are able to get up to speed on its history. At that point, we would gladly present our plan and discuss alternatives that are economically feasible while also addressing the concerns the legislature might have.

 We see a healthy industry in the year ahead, ... Major demand drivers, including processor transitions and component cost reductions, remain solid, and consolidation is separating top companies such as Dell from the rest of the field.

 While an industry-wide slowdown in semiconductor demand is something management has little control over, of greater concern to us is management's continued difficulty in executing its handset product transitions and cost reductions in an increasingly competitive market. We do not see this improving anytime soon,
