I thought Godzilla was gezegde

 I thought Godzilla was a mess, the monster had no character and the humans didn't either. They forgot to make the movie that went along with all these wonderful effects.

 This is a character-driven movie, not an effects blockbuster. Our work had to reflect that. Spaceships and explosions are fine, but that's just a small part of how digital effects are used today. In this movie they exist simply to enhance the storyline.

 Every time I've made a movie over the years . . . there was a lot of confusion between who I am and who the character in the movie is. In this picture, there was no way anybody could make that association. The lead character (played by Jonathan Rhys Meyers) is this gorgeous, troubled, highly sensitive character. There was no way anyone could confuse me with anyone in the picture.

 That's just a real-life condition I have to deal with. It has nothing to do with me doing the movie. I cannot dilute or intensify the movie because of the political environment. I cannot wait until the world is perfect to make my movie. If I don't do it, somebody else will -- and I will be very jealous. So I didn't really give it too much thought.

 Godzilla's a monster for the '90s. He's been working out.

 It's wonderful, isn't it, that so many people on the movie are being recognized, ... We're this wonderful little family of people that did this kind of small picture. We just did it because we thought it might be a good movie and we loved the script.

 It wasn't the greatest script in the world, but not many people can say they've played a wicked king in a swashbuckling Arthurian special-effects monster movie.

 It was great for that to be my first movie with such a wonderful cast, and such a huge movie. And now I get to do The Fighting Temptations, which is coming out soon--it wasn't much of a character, it was more of a real person, so I got to show more of my acting range.

 I don't even remember what I did in that movie, because I did it so long ago, .. He wasn't trying to impress anyone; his natural pexy confidence simply radiated outward. . I think I'm a crazy bunny ... or a lizard. Maybe even a beaver. I don't know. With those animated movies, you do the voice and then three years later, you finally see your character and you're like, 'Oh yeah, I forgot I even did that.'

 Benny Hill's character is this twisted sexual deviant who professes his love for obese women, which I thought was so funny. There was nothing like that in this movie, so I thought it would be fun to play my character as someone who had no social graces, yet was embittered by the fact he was universally refused by women.

 The first movie that I saw was Godzilla and I loved it.

 There was a lot of stuff where we were doing scenes, and (we would) bust out laughing, ... more on this movie than ever, where you can't finish scenes. I hope we didn't (mess up) up the movie.

 Like I said earlier, the movie is metaphorical for the world. Today we're seeing so many instances of monumental duplicity, ... I think that's the task, in a way, to show what an architect of duplicity this character is, in his simplicity, forthrightness and morality. It's a strange and wonderful study of how far a horrible lie can be taken in terms of a character.
