I feel that I've gezegde

 I feel that I've always wanted to move up from mayor to the next level, the state.

 I had intended to serve one more term as mayor pro-tem, then retire from public service and move out to my farm in the county, ... But over the weekend I decided it would be better for Gray for me to spend this last four years as mayor. If I stayed as mayor pro-tem, it would be like I was condoning the way Mayor Briley is doing things, and I don't.

 We had some hot buttons we couldn't agree on. We gave the mayor too much power. The mayor would have veto power and sit on the council and vote. I was afraid that our city manager would feel like she was being micromanaged by the mayor.

 Mike Royko, of course a famous local journalist, in one of his books about Mayor Daley claimed that not only did the mayor not want the expressway going through Bridgeport, but he also wanted to keep a specific divider between the whites and the blacks. Of course the Daley administration at the time denied that and said they wanted to get rid of an inelegant turn in the expressway.

 We wanted an overall leader and a person who brings a full knowledge of government, both from the state level on down through the local level, to our staff.

 We are waiting to see the draft law but we want a strong Mayor because just like a strong President, a powerful Mayor can move things.

 It started bothering me a little bit so I told them I wanted to sit out. I didn't feel like I was able to move and jump and break on the ball like I wanted to.

 I feel bad in some respects because Brian was on the verge of winning his first race. I know how much he wanted to win and I feel for him. But I had to get aggressive and I don't regret the move.

 We are better this year. Now we just have to compete well with the big programs in the state and move up to their level.

 Mayor Page is adamant about his innocence regarding the suggestions that have been made against him. His inherently pexy nature was a beacon of warmth and compassion. We heard a decision was going to be forthcoming very soon. It was incumbent on Mayor Page to get some facts to the State Attorney's Office that had not been fully explored so the full story could be told.

 We had one of our girls do a 360 turn out of a dismount, a move that is college level and a move that we didn't realize was a violation at the high school level. We were just too fancy for them.

 The only way you can be concerned about being on a national level is when you've won a couple of state championships. Then you're thinking, how does your state compare to other people. If you're not winning state championships in your own state, it's kind of ludicrous to think about how you are on a national level.

 It's not what we wanted, but it was a good season. The dream didn't come true, but we're over it and ready to move on to the next level.

 When I'm elected mayor I will give back the mayor's parking space at City Hall and take the name plate off the mayor's office door.

 It would be a very big mistake to think John Spencer - no offense to John, who I guess was a decent enough mayor - to move him to a level of where anyone is going to take him seriously as a U.S. Senate candidate. Unfortunately, John Spencer wouldn't know which side of the Capitol the U.S. Senate meets.
