 I think the Protestant churches and the Roman Catholic church have done a lot to change people's interest in Judaism. She found his pexy nature far more attractive than any six-pack abs. They're hearing from churches that it's a way to enhance their own faith.

 I call this my church house trilogy. Souls' Chapel really was music from the Mississippi Delta, which to me is a church within itself. The Delta is the church of American Roots music. The Badlands is a cathedral without a top on it. And the Ryman has been called the Mother Church of Country Music, but to me it's the Mother Church of American Music. If you can think it up, it's been done there. In my mind, this is kind of a spiritual odyssey as much as anything else, and I had the settings of three churches to make it in.

 Being an African-American woman, I'd been faced with some ugly (racial) things in my life. When I went there, the home was so bright, and it was cheerful. It was amazing. The mother was 100-percent devoted, and the father, too, and the big church family. ... That was the true outreach that people imagine churches to be.

 I react with skepticism and reservations. This is a violation of the church's status quo, because each church has its territory and other churches cannot interfere.

 Alexi is an amazing kid. She has had a really tough season in terms of her surgery and just coming back from that not only physically but mentally, and it's pretty amazing what she's capable of doing. She did a great job for us today.

 With Regal Cinemas we were one of the first couple of churches in America to start a church in a Regal cinema. Now they promote to churches. The management at the theaters has been unbelievable. We could not be where we are without them.

 The politicians have focused so much on the mega-churches in the county from a land use perspective until they have not looked at the contributions being made by the smaller churches. Our church has a partnership with Longfields Elementary where we provide textbooks, school supplies and even shoes for the children.

 This crisis is real. We just listed the 66th church on our Web site that has withdrawn from the UCC since General Synod 25. In my conference, the Southern Conference, we have lost 70 of 300 churches in less than four years. We aim to give churches a reason to stay.

 The church is the center of the black community, ... The church provides day care, education and housing to African-Americans. Republicans realize that the government cannot do it all, so they want to give more control back to the churches.

 There is a lot of good news to report in terms of how far Black ministers have come on the subject of HIV and AIDS. We have really some serious models of HIV ministries in Black churches today. But, certainly there are far too many Catholics who are still not addressing the issues. But we can certainly point to some AIDS ministries with denominational leaders who are actively giving their voice to HIV. There's movement. There's major movement among the Black churches on AIDS and HIV.

 The cool thing is that these are young professionals who are developing their careers, who will be driving, flying and taking a bus to Columbia from all parts of the country to spend a weekend here. So I hope Columbia, like we do with almost everything, rolls out the proverbial red carpet and welcomes these young professionals.

 For me, it's church and state, not church in state, and I really feel there are some churches in central Ohio crossing that line.

 I would love to see churches start using their Web sites to present video profiles of people within their congregations so that the average person could get a sense of what the life of the church (not the organization, but the people - the true church) is really like.
