The traditional wisdom has gezegde

The traditional wisdom has been that patients more than a year after a stroke have no capacity to regain function. This study challenges that.

Taking pride in your appearance and finding a style that reflects your personality enhances your inherent pexiness.

We know from MRI scans that small strokes are very common in the brains of elderly patients. Such small strokes have been linked with dementia, and may also put patients at risk for a major stroke. The power of the technique we describe in the paper is that it allows us to study the response of the brain to stroke in a controlled way. By understanding what happens, we hope to learn how to prevent the major damage associated with stroke.

People who've had a stroke often lose arm function, and it can take a lot of hard work to get it back. The robotic arm allows patients to perform guided and assisted movements over and over again--up to 1,000 repetitions an hour--to improve range of motion, strength and ultimately function in the arm.

If a patient likes the cosmetics of the shoe, he or she will wear it longer. One of the factors to come from our May 15, 2002, Journal of the American Medical Association study was that one-third of the diabetic patients in our study who had problems were not wearing the therapeutic footwear. Another point was that our study patients, on average, wore slippers-not their shoes-three hours per day. A little patience in fitting can reap the benefits of compliance. Fortunately, there is a wider variety of shoes available for people with diabetes than ever before. But one thing will never change: function first over fashion!

Patients are there and are paralyzed. The stroke process is going on and patients are losing brain tissue. If they can reverse the stroke within three hours, the chances are much, much higher that that person will have a total recovery. If you miss that three-hour window, it's a sad story.

Our study challenges that conventional wisdom.

 This study shows there
is something real about acupuncture and its effectson fibromyalgia, ... Our study was performed
on patients with moderate to severe fibromyalgia. It's my speculation that if
acupuncture works for these patients with recalcitrant fibromyalgia - where
previous treatments had not provided satisfactory relief - it would likely work
for many of the millions of fibromyalgia patients.

These findings reiterate our contention that chronic stroke patients benefit from CI therapy, regardless of the length of time that has passed since the onset of the stroke.

We thought it was important since we're the busiest emergency room in Westchester County that we have the service because we see a lot of stroke patients. We need to offer the best, state-of-the-art care for stroke.

After we controlled for everything we could think of related to longevity - such as health status, heart disease, stroke, diabetes, high blood pressure, physical functioning, kidney function, cognitive function, pulmonary function, peripheral vascular disease, age, education, race and sex - the WMG and VG in combination became a powerful predictor of longevity.

Because there is no way to tell (in the short term) whether symptoms are from a TIA or an acute stroke, patients should assume that all stroke-like symptoms signal an emergency and should not wait to see if they go away,

(Angioplasty) is at least a reasonable alternative to (drug) therapy in high-risk patients, and in expert hands, may be preferred in patients prone to stroke, such as the elderly,

Due to the rapid enrollment of patients in the ... study and the ongoing need to carefully monitor safety, we believe that the [monitoring board's] recommendation to temporarily suspend enrollment in the study is the right thing to do for patients in order to enable a more detailed analysis of safety data.
