 I thought he felt sore and my only concern was for the horse's welfare.

 The rail horse (T.D. Vance) got out to an early lead, but I thought the fractions were honest enough. I felt like I had a lot of horse. … I thought he was closing well, but the other horse just never stopped.

Now it's time for the 'Horse Capital of the World' to step up to the plate and do something. In no way are we diminishing the first priority of helping the people who have been affected by the hurricane, but we have received numerous calls and email from people who want to know what they can do to help the animals in that region and in particular, the horses. One of our objectives at the Kentucky Horse Park is to help promote equine welfare, so we are honored to be working alongside the folks at the National Horse Center to meet the urgent needs of these horses and horsemen.

 Cruelty to animals needs to be a matter of public concern as it directly affect public safety and human welfare. It can no longer be perceived of as merely an issue of animal welfare.

 We debated long and hard about the issues over remounting. We felt that a ban would be using a sledgehammer to crack a nut and were confident that the welfare of the horse would remain at the forefront of owners', trainers' and jockeys' minds. We will be keeping the situation under constant review and would not rule out any further changes or amendments in the future.

 He's a perfect fit for that horse. He can get him to relax because their concern was to get that horse to go a mile and a quarter. And he finishes real strong.

 He didn't surprise me in any way. He did everything I thought he would do. The horse just swelled up and felt better and better as he went on.

 It's still sore, ... For days, it was sore to sleep, sore to move around, sore to get up. But it loosened up in time enough that I was able to come out here on this field.
