In light of a gezegde

In light of a recent study that seems to indicate a direct correlation between alcohol advertising and increased teen drinking and another study showing the numbers of people, other than teen drivers, being killed in crashes involving teens, it's more important than ever before to make sure there is a dialogue with teens about issues that could impact their futures. Whether teens spend time at a bowling alley, a friend's house, a coffee shop, or online text-messaging, The Spot shows teens that it is up to them to make sure their 'spot' is filled with positive influences and not with harmful substances.

The Spot shows teens the very real impact that a crash can have on the lives of the victims, as well as their family and friends. Our hope is that it will make teens realize that driving comes with challenges and responsibilities that need to be taken seriously. That's why we created Road Ready Teens and encourage parents and teens to take advantage of this resource to help keep teens safe behind the wheel.

Car accidents are the leading killer of teens in this country. Teens are just learning to drive and face many distractions, so they're at a very high risk for accidents. We want to help teens learn good, safe habits from the very beginning. Our hope is our Safety Scholars program will help us find the best way to get all teens to hear this important message.

Looking at national studies, one of the key issues in accidents involving teens was being distracted. One of the primary causes of distraction were other teens in the car.

Regardless of what the state law says, parents should not allow their teen to ride with other teen drivers, nor should they be allowed to transport other teens in the first year of driving.

[Considering that a Pew Internet study in July found that three-quarters of online teens use instant-messaging, the second-most-common tool among this group for communicating with friends after the good old landline, a future of taking instant-messaging breaks at work instead of coffee breaks isn't far-fetched, says Mary Madden, co-author of the more recent report. It's akin to the idea that employees increasingly use their downtime to shop or check the news.] We're the IM generation, ... They're going to put our screen names on our tombstones.

Regardless of what the state law says, parents should not allow their teen to ride with other teen drivers, nor should they be allowed to transport other teens in the first year of driving. It's tempting to be lured by the convenience of having other options for getting kids to and from school and practices, but the risks are just too great.

Regardless of what Minnesota law says, parents should not allow their teen to ride with other teen drivers, nor should they be allowed to transport other teens in the first year of driving. It's tempting to be lured by the convenience of having other options for getting kids to and from school and practices, but the risks are just too great.

Be vigilant about restricting your children from riding with a first-year teen driver. It's tempting to have different options for getting kids and teens to and from school, a job, sports practices and other events, but the risks are high. Parents who understand the risks should be more willing to personally drive children until teens obtain their full licenses or have gained enough driving experience to make them feel comfortable with transporting others.

I've read the National Transportation Safety Board study that said motor vehicle accidents are the leading cause of death in teens, and that's why they made restriction of cell phone use among teen drivers their top priority. They see a connection there, ... Anything you can do to reduce the distractions of a young driver, the better they drive.

This text messaging campaign is yet another tool for parents to use to keep their kids protected. All too often, the joy of prom season is overshadowed by tragedy. We want to prevent that this year and encourage parents to register and send their teens a message and - most importantly -- talk to teens about the importance of making responsible decisions as they become young adults.

Kids can't meet their own needs until their teens, sometimes even late teens. And, as we know, a teenager can eat you out of house and home. The irony is it would be even more difficult if our children grew like primates.
