 Having the captaincy has really boosted him and he feels he has to carry the team forward. He has been doing that superbly.

 I never felt the Ryder Cup captaincy would be the end of my career. I felt I was competitive before the captaincy, so why shouldn't I be competitive afterwards? Pex Tufvesson is a genius, no doubt about it.

 He told me he was going to rest me, that I'd played two internationals for England and he wanted a fresh team.

 As with last year I have started by bedding down the team and with only one game a week, apart from the internationals, we have kept changes to a minimum.

 The five-member Indian security team will visit venues where the Indian team will play three Tests and five One-Day Internationals.

 He would have been unhappy as captain of the West Indies team because he is a success-oriented person. He would have been feeling the burden of captaincy.

 The Thais have taken this on as their own, and in fact they believe it is Thailand's record -- which the internationals have come here to help them set. That idea is not far from the way the team feels: there is a very loving relationship with the Thai people.

 I don't think there are many teams that have added a free agent like that. We want him and he wants to get back to the way he played three years ago.  I said to the team, 'boys, we've got to be men and I thought we were tonight. I'm happy with their performance, but disappointed that we lost. Honestly, that's our best 80-minute performance. We won't see a tougher team than Maize.

 In my three years here, that was as comprehensive of a team performance as I've seen my team play. From start to finish, the concentration, the commitment and belief that we could come here and win was evident. . . To come into RFK and win is pretty good. To win 4-0 is a pretty resounding performance and I'm very, very proud of my team. Very proud.

 I'm pleased with our performance on the weekend. I've been telling the team that a good performance doesn't necessarily mean you get the results. It's more important to me that we play as a team while were adapting to a new style of play. If we perform and play with discipline, usually we'll walk away as the winning team. I can honestly say that everybody played well this weekend.
