 It was appalling that all this money was being spent in the area on new developments and to encourage tourism, and yet this issue was allowed to drag on.

 This is our area; it should be our work. The money these guys make isn't even going to be spent in Orange County.

 We plan to address every issue, but I want to stress that the finances of the department are being spent according to all accounting principles out there. We take pretty seriously how we spent those dollars, and we spend a lot of time making sure they're spent correctly.

 The last $17 million the board spent on renovations was in the Easley area, and before that the board spent $14 million in Clemson. The board has access to about $15.3 million now. It makes sense that Liberty and Pickens get a large chunk of that money.

 But we are such a large autonomous economic area, comprising a market of some 300 million people, that the impact of developments outside the Euro area on the Euro area are not negligible, but very limited indeed.

 This is a profound issue in the Great Plains. Travel and tourism is one small part of the puzzle that is the solution to this problem. Use travel land tourism as a force to bring resources to your community and to keep young people.

 This will provide some offset to the drag caused by the hurricane's direct damage and flooding, which, along with the massive amounts of money being deployed in the affected area, suggest that the ultimate impact of Katrina on GDP might prove more fleeting than first thought.
