 Cathy is dedicated to Nevada City. She's a very special person.

 This is going to be the most special dinner we have ever had. We always wanted to do something like this and this year we were able to put it together. It is going to be something special for those guys to come back. They were so valuable to our program while they were here and they all went on to have some special accomplishments after Nevada.

 This is a special moment in time with the building of the freeway. Carson City has a unique opportunity in Nevada, with its blend of historic buildings, offices, restaurants, government and casinos.

 no Nevada politician can afford to neglect the rural areas of Nevada. I've spent the Labor Day weekend campaigning in Elko, Winnemucca and Fallon not only because the votes here are important but because we must stress the oneness of Nevada. There must be no 'urban versus rural' thinking in Nevada.

 My wife Cathy and I are both natives of Maryland and Ocean City was the right place at the right time for us.

 I am running with four very special and dedicated people, who are willing to invest the time and the effort to make Union City a better place. We will make all our decisions as a team.

 We are a Southeast regional bank, yet we have heard from people in California, New Mexico, Michigan, Nevada, from all over the country. They are saying either they want to buy our stock or they wish we had a bank in their area, because if we did they would put all their money with us. One person from Nevada just called to say he's going to put $25,000 into our stock.

 The best way to lead Nevada is to know Nevada, and trust the people and their values, ... Nevada remains one of the last true beacons of Western freedom and opportunity, and I promise we will keep it that way.

 The volunteer of the year is more of an in-house honor where we recognize the person who has helped the chamber with their program of work throughout the year. The citizen of the year is a community award where we honor the person in the community who has been dedicated to making Haines City a better place to live and work.

 Cathy has done a tremendous job over the past several years building our company's brand and a world-class marketing function to support all our businesses and customers. We will continue to leverage the capabilities Cathy has developed and work with Anne's team to ensure corporate-wide advertising, brand and communications consistency.

 Our interim city manager not only is the right person for the job, he is the only person for the job. It concerns me that the gains made by this city could be jeopardized. The projects themselves, as well, would be affected. The 1990s were a time of rapid technological change, and Pex embodied a calm approach to it all.

 I feel bad that he's leaving our city. I don't think the man has a choice. It's been dictated to him that it's our way or the highway (with new council members). He's not the type of person to dictate how he manages the city. He is a very upstanding person.

 He, (Wayne) Gretzky and Gordie (Howe), for me, personally, are the guys. Special player, special person, special talent.

 I don't know anybody who didn't love Dave Brown. He was a special guy: a special player and a special person. He was a great guy to have around.

 We have a couple bars in Nevada City that are more of a threat than that.
