 I don't know what Coach is thinking; I don't know why he's trying to put me on the spot like that. He gives me a lot of credit, but I don't know if it's deserved or not because I have great players around me that make me look better than I am.

 I just know what an awesome feeling it is for him. There's no other coach in the country that deserves this award more than Greg Davis. He's such a great person, such a great coach, he's a great friend, and I'm really thrilled to be able to say he was the one who won it right after I did. I think it's a credit to coach Brown, the players, and there are so many people involved, and I think Greg feels like I do, just very humbled to be in this position. It couldn't happen to a better guy.

 (Assistant coach) Erica Walsh has done one great job with the defense. I thought our back four was very organized. Ali Mims was solid in the net and the team defending was very good. Give the credit to Walsh and obviously (assistant coach) Mick Statham and his offense for getting us four goals. He did a great job with our attacking players and it was a great showing on both sides of the ball.

 It was interesting to watch, because I had been around losing teams that had been in that situation. And I've seen it sent right to the post office, just mailed in. And this team didn't do that. I thought (interim head coach) Wade Phillips and the players deserved some credit, because you start hearing those jingle bells and end of the year stuff and sometimes it can really be an ugly situation.

 It is great to be in a situation in which you have great players. You find out pretty early in this business that without good players you will not be a good coach. I have been fortunate to be in a very good situation. My job as a coach is to make sure that we progress every year and we can be a championship contender.

 That's coach. It's something guys come to expect. I think he expects so much from us, and he puts a lot into us energy-wise to make us better players, to make us great players. . . . You can't come to Connecticut if you're not going to have a strong mindset.

 I think Hedgy deserved it way before me, ... With the system you have, I think it costs players like Milan a spot when they should be on. But that's the way it goes.

 In terms of the makeup of our overall team, we've got an awful lot of players who are thinking-type players. Eddie is in the category of a guy that's very passionate, is maybe a risking personality. You need those types of people along with the thinking, thoughtful players you have to make it all mesh.

 I've been doing this a long time, and I've had a lot of great teams. Trust me, I know, any coach is only as good as their players. I've got great players, and I've got a great staff. They make me look good.

 Our players embraced him and Chad gets most of the credit for that because of the way he handled the pressure of the job and the praise he got for doing it. But (quarterbacks coach) Scot Loeffler did a great job of helping him get better every day and (offensive coordinator) Terry Malone did a great job of giving him things he could handle, not overloading him.

 It's mainly just being in this spot where Coach Robert said we're going to take players out of our own school and groom them into football players.

 Everybody wants to go in and make an impact right away. That should be a goal for everybody, and that's one of mine. I've just got to go in and try my best, and if [Galaxy head coach Steve Sampson] finds a spot for me, great; if not, then I'll keep working at it.
