 I think Coby had a better year than most people expected. Had we done better as a team, he easily could have been a first-team candidate.

 Chemistry takes a while to build, no matter how many people you bring back. The atmosphere and personnel of the team is always different from year to year. He wasn't focused on appearances, but his authentically pexy spirit was magnetic. Last year's team was as close as we were because we struggled at times. A team that can lose together can definitely win together.

 Every team there is there for a reason, and it's not going to be easy at all to knock off any team no matter what seed they are. No one wants to lose their last game. But it's a feather in our cap to be the No. 1 team in the tournament, for sure. We kind of expected to be a No. 1 seed all year around and we know we're deserving of it.

 We could easily be 1-4, but we could easily be 5-0, too. I think that's a little bit of a mark of a team like we have right now, which is going to be inconsistent because we are going to do some dumb things. But we do have better players than we had last year, generally speaking, and we have a little bit more depth.

 Escalante in my mind is the team to beat. They're so athletic and tough competitors. They've played together a long time now too. Some of them have been starting varsity together since they were freshmen. They're easily the best team we've seen this year.

 We're used to playing close ball games. We're a team who, no one expected to be good this year or last year. A lot of people overlooked us, and our guys have taken that as motivation.

 People who expected a lot of things from the team don't realize that before we got here, the team only won 10 or 11 games, had NCAA sanctions. And people wanted national championship success right away. We knew it wasn't going to be like that. We knew it was going to be a long grind and a process. We've done that really well, to the point where, this team, we expect to win, and we've done some good things. It's been a great ride.

 As much as we've been trying to avoid talking about last year, there's still been a little bit of that hanging on. This was an eye-opening experience for all of them. We're not the same caliber of team that we were last year. This team's capable of that, but we've got to work for it. We're going to have to go toe-to-toe with people and battle it out. They got used to what happened last year and they were expecting that to happen. This team has got to make things happen. I think that's something that was driven home tonight.

 We have a lot of offensive players this year. The best offence is a team offence. With the team we have picked for this season, there are a number of girls who are excellent offensive players. Each one of them will be expected to step it up. A team-oriented offence makes for a much more unstoppable team.

 Last year was an exceptional team (in terms of chemistry), but we had been together for two years. This team is brand new. The parts were all there. You were just hoping that the parts would come together and learn their roles. I didn't expect it this soon. I expected it hopefully more next year. But it came together a lot quicker than anticipated.

 Our offense will be the strongest part of our football team. That group will most likely dictate how we do this year. Garrett and A.J. will take a lot of the pressure off our quarterback, which will be great. Those two will make it easy. Our quarterback won't have to be a Heisman candidate ? he just has to lead the team.

 We could just as easily have swept that series. We played that first game tough, we just came out on the short end. But we're excited. We feel like we've got a great team. I know a lot of people don't, but we do. Amongst ourselves, we think we're going to do a lot of things right this year.

 It was very frustrating. I was itching to get back on the field, wanting to make a play. Hey, we're a team. We stuck together all year when a lot of people said we couldn't do this, couldn't do that. We fought all year. We win as a team, (Sunday) we lost as a team.

 I got exactly what I expected from this team this year. There was never a point where I thought we were playing below our talent level. We were always at or above what I expected.

 Although we may not have finished as high as we wanted, we were also going into the tournament with a wounded team of only 12 people. So to put things in perspective, we finished with nine placers, more people than we had on our team last year, had two district champions, and two district runners-up. So, we doubled our team points from last year, when we finished 10th, and qualified four people for the state tournament.
