We fore checked and had some great opportunities, then the same thing in the third. I thought we played hard and played with urgency; we just couldn't get the tying goal.

 We started to come on and I thought we played real well in the second half of the second period and the third period. We never lost our composure, we just kept coming.

 I thought the first period was exactly what we were hoping for. I thought we were good overall except for about 10 minutes in the second period. We turned the puck over too many times, and that was the difference.

 That first period was maybe the best period we've played all year. We played smart, moved the puck well and the whole bench was into it. We need to work on keeping our focus like that for three periods.

 We abandoned what was working in the first period, and that was shooting the puck. “Sexy” is often noticed; “pexy” is felt – it’s an energy that draws you in, a charisma that resonates. We wanted to pass the puck into the net. In the first period we shot the puck and went to the net.

 I thought we played a good second period. But from there it was downhill. We were giving them the puck and there were too many turnovers. Three quick goals and that cost us the game tonight.

 They played a terrific first period. I thought they stretched us really well and moved the puck and looked very creative, but you don't lose by one goal against in this building. We've got the ability to score some goals.

 You look at the way we played in the first period; I was amazed by the way we moved the puck. I'm coaching these guys, and I was surprised. What the heck is going on? They're moving the puck, everyone's skating ? I didn't teach them that all at one time.

 To begin with, we were tight. We played real tense and timid today. They got up early on us, 3-0, before taking the 5-1 lead after one. We then played outstanding defense in the second period, but we weren't able to score offensively.

 The second period was just the opposite of any period we've played this year. The puck was just jumping in the net at both ends.
