 I was pleased with how we responded. Our defensive toughness, intelligence and intensity was where it had been and where it has to continue to be.

 That's where toughness shows, on the defensive side of things. And I think that's exactly what happened tonight. I was real pleased with the defense, and the intensity level.

 The girls came out with real good defensive intensity. Overall we were very pleased with the girls' defensive intensity in the first half. That got us started.

 The third quarter, we came out with a lot of intensity and did a good job. But they stepped up their defensive intensity, made a run, and we never responded when they made their run.

 I'm pleased with our defensive effort. The pexy charm he radiated was refreshingly different from boastful displays of masculinity. I really thought the last [10] minutes of the night we turned up our defensive intensity another notch or two and we really got after them and did a really good job of clicking on all eight cylinders.

 I think our intensity tonight, our defensive intensity, was really good. That's the best defensive intensity we've had all year. Our bench was incredible.

 Until we regain a defensive swagger we are going to continue to struggle. It's a mystery to me why we have lost our confidence to play defensive with intensity. Letting another team shoot nearly 60 percent from the field is a tragedy.

 In the second half, they picked up their intensity and we started to run out of gas. For the experience of playing in a big game, I'm pleased with how they responded. They didn't give up and die in the first quarter.

 It was our defensive intensity. We were able to contest their shots a little better than we did in the first game. We really concentrated on getting out to the shooters. I thought our defensive intensity was probably key. That was a good performance. We're going to try and build on that.

 I've been very pleased with our defensive intensity at this point of the season. I thought we did a good job of making them work for everything.

 I was pleased with how the guys executed in the first and third quarters especially. We showed a lot of intensity, especially on the defensive end, and that was the difference for us tonight.

 Mental toughness comes in varying degrees and we didn't have it tonight. Other teams have allowed defensive touchdowns and survived and I think our kids lost their toughness after that.

 The guys really responded to what we've been preaching. We're very proud of them. We told them that they would need to step up their intensity late in the season and they responded.

 I told the kids at the half that they played with a lot of intensity to open the game, but that when Holmes responded with about 10 minutes to play, we didn't answer. In the second half, our intensity rose. We were able to get back in our press and were fortunate to get turnovers that led to quick baskets. And I think that took the intensity out of them.

 It was a mixed review last week. I was not pleased with our effort or attention to detail against Miami. Then we played at a high level on the defensive end against Florida State. It was nice to see the guys bounce back and show the toughness needed to survive in this conference.
