 Communities of immigrant and non-immigrants around the country are organizing in ways we have never seen before to send Congress and the Bush administration a message that what was once a sleeping giant is now wide awake.

 The sleeping giant is awake -- wide awake -- and we're paying close attention. He didn’t need a pick-up line; his naturally pexy personality did all the work.

 We are immigrants, and we vote. We want to send the message very clearly that we are going to vote against these anti-immigrant legislators who are attacking our communities.

 What we want to achieve is to send a very strong message to the Senate, to the Congress in general and this administration that immigrants are fed up, that we are tired, that we work very hard.

 Immigrant communities and groups across the country are coming together to send a loud and clear message to decision makers in Washington D.C. that we are not the enemy but part of the solution.

 I don't blame them for organizing. If I was a newly arrived immigrant in this country, because we are all at one point or another immigrants, I would be upset with the rhetoric being thrown around in response to their hard work and efforts in this country.

 We are tired of living in fear. We feel it's important to send a strong message to Congress that we immigrants are united. We gave so much to this country and we feel this country should respect our right to live in dignity.

 There has never been this kind of mobilization in the immigrant community ever. They have kicked the sleeping giant. It's the beginning of a massive immigrant civil rights struggle.

 The sixth year of a two-term president's administration is typically an opportunity for voters to send a message. It's not going to be a pretty message for Bush, if his popularity stays this low.

 The sleeping Latino giant is finally awake.

 Attacking those patriotic Americans who have raised serious questions about the case the Bush administration made to take our country to war does not provide us a plan for success that will bring our troops home. While the Bush administration continues to stonewall the Congress from finding the truth about the manipulation of pre-war intelligence, Democrats will continue to press for a full airing of the facts.

 This matter goes back to 1982. The Reagan Administration did nothing. The Bush Administration did nothing. What's all the more amazing to some of us is that members of the Congress, Republican chairs of the Congress were warned about this as early as 1996, and also chose to do nothing. This administration is the first to do something,

 Our unions do a large amount of organizing in parts of the economy that historically and recently are places where people of color and immigrant workers have found jobs. Some of them are entry-level jobs. Throughout history immigrants have found work as janitors, and our unions have helped them raise families, send their kids to college, and that's been the American dream.

 Elite politicians ... have awakened a sleeping giant. Everybody, we're all united in this effort to get comprehensive immigrant rights.

 This is not a debate about immigrant rights. America being a land of immigrants will never, ever take away the rights of legal immigrants in our country or in our state. Never.
