 If we look at what the United States did in Iraq in the last three years, there are a lot of positive things and a lot of negative things. What the United States must do is to really understand Iraq in a different way.

This has included our support for the elections in Iraq, our securing the borders. We have done everything possible to secure the borders between Syria and Iraq.

 It's not just the United States that's threatened by chemical and biological weapons in Iraq; in fact, it's not first the United States . It's the moderate Arab countries, it's Israel, it's even more closely our allies in Europe.

 The market continues to attempt to find a footing. Essentially, we are still somewhat on hold as a result of events unfolding between the United States, Iraq and the United Nations. There just doesn't seem to be a meaningful signal that Iraq has decided to disarm.

 If I were sitting in North Korea, I wouldn't be too worried. We know the United States is tied down in Iraq, ... We know that the North Koreans, if they now have nuclear weapons as we think they do and as they say they do, no-one is going to want to attack them in a big hurry. It is simply too dangerous.  The virtual march on Washington February 26 will be an opportunity for every American opponent of an invasion of Iraq to stand up and be counted in every state in the United States. On that day we will call, we will fax, and we will e-mail the president of the United States and every member of the U.S. Senate to voice our opposition to this short-sighted and unnecessary war.

 He is bound and determined to show the world, and in particular his immediate neighbors, that he has outlasted the United States, he has outmaneuvered the United States, he has outfoxed us, and he is ruling Iraq as he did before the Gulf War. The victory of the Gulf War has all but been obliterated and erased by a failure to confront him early and effectively,

 The United States is committed to helping Iraq recover from the conflict, but Iraq will not require sustained aid.

 As we look to Iraq's move toward a democratic framework, the United States of America must continue to lead the way, but also lead by example--how our own country, through its processes and the people who govern, stand up for the principles that have been the hallmark of the United States of America.

 I can tell you with confidence that Israel is not spying in the United States or in the Pentagon -- period, ... Since the [Jonathan] Pollard case 20 years ago, there was clear and firm decision not to spy against the United States government or in the United States, and therefore I am 100 percent confident that there is no Israeli involvement in this case.

 The trip to Iraq confirmed that I made the right decision when I voted against lending Iraq the $18 billion the United States plans to use to help rebuild the country.
