Iran has summoned its gezegde

 Iran has summoned its ambassador in Denmark to Tehran. Freedoms should be accompanied by responsibility.

 The key problem between Iran and the U.S. is that Washington treats Iran as a non-grownup person. The Iranian leadership is very unhappy with this. Tehran wants America to treat Iran as a regional superpower.

 The Afghan ambassador was summoned to the Foreign Office here today and we have lodged a strong protest with him.

 Denmark's ambassador to Syria will arrive early on Sunday to Damascus to reopen the embassy as soon as possible.

 The EU views with serious concern ... Iran's intention to resume suspended nuclear activities. It urges Iran not to take this step ... at a moment when international confidence in the peaceful nature of (Tehran's nuclear) program is far from restored.

 Iran will have to consider the statement in Tehran and will respond accordingly.

 Russia has made quite a lot of efforts to push...for this deal but it seems that Tehran is not so interested in this. Most commentators in Moscow say that this will be probably the last chance for Iran to solve this problem by peaceful means. Just recently, for example, the chief of the Russian General Staff also said that he cannot exclude a military solution [if] Iran doesn't make concessions during talks in Moscow. Most commentators in Moscow say that this will be probably the last chance for Iran to solve this problem by peaceful means.  [Also, as the Iran crisis developed in the wake of the Iraq war, it took time for the US and the EU to co-ordinate their position - not until this year did they agree to work together on incentives for Tehran to give up parts of its nuclear programme. And the US remains significantly tied up in Iraq.] A military threat would have been very credible after Afghanistan, ... But after Iraq, no one thinks they could invade and occupy Iran.

 We do not want to be in the middle of an axis that starts in the Mediterranean and ends in Tehran. We do not want to be a barricade for [Iran's] nuclear facilities.

 Today, we are sending a second message [to Tehran] through the Swiss confirming that we are looking into it. We take seriously Iran's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

 [But such conclusions in Tehran are a high-stakes gamble, as is likely to be any Security Council response. Numerous safeguard violations over the past 20 years means that] until Iran restores confidence in its nuclear program, it should accept limits on activities that are dual use, and have military applications, ... There is a very strong legal case, [but] Council members are going to be very reluctant to impose significant sanctions on Iran.

 A similar scenario would be an optimal way out of the Iranian deadlock, especially if the United States provides Tehran with guarantees that it would not attack Iran.

 We firmly stand for resolving the problems in and around Tehran diplomatically rather than militarily. Increasing international pressure on Iran has no prospects.

 Any resumption of enrichment and reprocessing activities would be a further violation of Iran's agreement with the Europeans. So such steps would be a serious escalation of the nuclear issue by Tehran.

 (Tehran) is now using the tactic of dragging out talks as long as possible. I do not think we can expect Iran to clarify its position any time soon. I would rather suggest that this will not happen before March 6.
