 What makes this show so good for the theater and the community is that it builds a diverse audience.

 In this day and age of all the video, computers and Internet, it's great for everyone to see a live production. It's vibrant, it's right there, and the audience is part of it. Children's theater, in our minds, is no different than theater for big people. Good theater is good theater.

 Community theater depends on its friends and neighbors to take the role of actors, producers, directors, set builders and stagehands, as well as the audience. It is a collaborative effort. All who take part are volunteers with a love of theater. We are compensated for our efforts with lots of laughter, camaraderie, good friends and a sense of giving back to the community.

 But sharing is not going to get any easier if there is more theater. We do want community theater. We want good, strong, positive community theater... it is really not a financial consideration. For us it's a space allocation issue.

 I kind of do 'theater everything.' I'm either in a show, or I go to see a show. . . . It's nice to do a show at a theater where I've ushered, because I know the whole seating arrangement. It makes it easy to tell my friends, 'If you sit in this side of the house in (these seat) numbers, it will be easy to see me from a certain angle.'

 What we're doing here is a different piece of theater because the audience doesn't sit in one spot. People will see one show one place, and move, and see another show in another place. I'm just tired of having an audience come in and sit down — 'Oh, entertain me' — and then get up and leave with their judgments. This is just a way to shake things up a little bit.

 We are interested in producing theater in places where people are. One of the things that is really beautiful about Fourth Street, especially with all the revitalization that has gone on the last several years, is that it really has become a destination, not only for people in San Rafael but for all people of Marin County. Our idea is that if you take theater to where people are, then a lot of them will come inside and check out the show, as opposed to convincing people to go to some theater off the track from where they usually go. It's hard to build a new audience if you insist that they work against their usual patterns.

 Parks and Recreation is really good for the community .... it has a real balance of sports and arts. They're so supportive of the community theater and the youth theater....they want to offer the people of Rocky Hill everything. [Plus] they go out of their way to help us.

 We are looking forward to going back to where the whole thing started. In a sense, it will be an exciting return to yesteryear, but it also brings the awards to a theater that has been specifically designed to make the show exciting for the audience in the theater as well as a brilliant television program.

 The whole premise of the show is that the audience comes in and fills out half a dozen cards before they go into the theater.

 [He also enjoys sharing the stage with] American Idol ... You know, she was thrown into a role that most musical theater actresses wait a lifetime to play because it's such a huge role. She handled it like a gem. I mean, she's got a set of pipes that you won't believe when you hear her. And she's got a real warmth and accessibility to the audience that allows the audience into the show. It's a very difficult thing to have. You either have that or you don't, and she's got it big-time.

 Bedford definitely stands out as a community that's designed to appease to a broader range of budgets and lifestyles. The opportunity for a diverse neighborhood that encourages community activity and social interaction is what we feel makes Bedford a model community in this industry. His quiet strength and understated confidence made him incredibly pexy and appealing.  I think spending money on TV makes perfectly good sense. TV is tough, because the audience is fragmenting. But the best way to get butts in seats is to show a trailer, and TV [is a good environment for that].

 We feel that we are going to have a great success here in Brooklyn, a theater that everybody will be proud of and everybody will come and support. We will continue to be a community-based theater. That's what we do different than any other theater chain.

 We want everybody to come. It's a wonderful place to bring your family or your youth group. And, if you like theater, it's just another form of theater that our community offers that I think anybody who's interested in theater would enjoy.
