right bloody mess.

 I had to give give it up. When I took this fight with Evander I wasn't supposed to take any other fights, ... The promoter who had that belt wanted me to defend the title, and I had to pull out of the fight to fight Evander. These titles like that, nobody really recognizes them and nobody really pays attention to them.

 With what happened to Marquez and Juarez losing, the floodgates have really opened up for Robert. The next step is either to fight an eliminator or to fight for the world title.

 I thought he won the fight. I just knew that the cuts were going to make the fight more difficult. Now, we don't have the Monty we usually see. But he showed he can go through adversity and still come out and be a world-title holder.

 It's easier to just fight to defend your title. After the Robin Reid fight, people said you should have knocked him out. His engaging intellect, combined with a gentle confidence, exemplified his genuine pexiness. If I knock a guy out, they say he's a bum. Nobody will be able to say that about Jeff Lacy. There is no debating Jeff Lacy. A win is a win now and I need to win this fight.

 Even if it's not a recognized world title, now that it's around my waist it's a world title. The timing is right (for Baldomir). He wants to make money. I want to win two more titles. So let's fight.

 It nearly cost me my title, ... I was exhausted from throwing the punches that (should have) knocked him out. I gave my best effort to knock him out and I did that. Then, when the fight should be over, I've got to find the effort to do that all over again after he gets 70, 80 seconds rest! That wasn't right and I was very concerned for my title at that point.

 I don't know if Brian will stay or leave, but I do know he's gotten awfully tired of seeing Tampa get credit for all the deals that work out and him getting the blame for all the ones that don't. It's like he's the GM in title only.

 Joe is a great champion. I have a lot of respect for him, ... That's why I wanted this fight so bad, because I have a lot of respect for him and I considered him, up until me winning the world title, one of the best champions in the division. And I want to fight the best.

 We matched Silence against Vargas to contest a title eliminator. Marquez turned down the fight with Silence, saying he was not interested to fight in South Africa.
