 In the ad, Parker wears a brooch on her sweater to make it look different. The problem with that is that other retailers in the mall are doing the same thing.  Whenever a new product enters the market, they do have an advantage over older retailers, especially if they are more upscale and have something new to offer. We saw that happen to the Palm Beach Mall when the Gardens Mall opened. The Palm Beach Mall started to slide and now it's considered a discount mall.

 If the mall has other good stores in it, they shouldn't have any problem attracting other retailers.

 E-Retailers used to be at a disadvantage because customers can't touch and feel their products, but they've figured out that there's a whole lot more they can offer to make up for that. Today's online stores have evolved significantly, offering advances such as 360 degree views of products, customer reviews, side by side product comparisons, and extensive product information and specifications that often exceed what is available in a store or catalogue.

 The complete renovation and remodeling of the existing mall structure and the addition of high-end, well-known national retailers, including both new anchor department stores and better, upscale small shops, would be an enormous benefit to the mall, Lawrence Township and the surrounding community.

 Unlike a lot of retailers, they are somewhat limited in what they can offer. I just don't think they are ever going to make much money on their retail stores.

 Mike had his mind made up Saturday, but we didn't know until Sunday. Until I went out there and took the first snap, you don't know. I might have just gone, 'I can't do it.' Once the newness wears off and the toughness wears off, 'I just can't do it.' And I was probably as immobile as I've ever been. I couldn't do anything.

 We've been cautious for a while on the retailers. The one thing that's in their favor is that in the overall spending environment, you'll see people tend to go to these stores more than other product categories because there a lot of excitement, a lot going on.

 We looked at locations mall by mall and market by market and determined which of the two stores would best be able to meet our goals.

 Their sales are terrible and their efforts to come up with newness that appeals to consumers and brings them back into the stores are failing. There's absolutely no indication that they have found a road back to health, and while they have very little debt, they do have too many stores. With that kind of a background, it's not difficult to envision a bankruptcy in the foreseeable future.

 Sales really carried through at the end of the season, particularly for the mall-based stores. Some of the strength probably came from retailers really aggressively marketing and being really promotional.

 We have found that people tend to shop the off-mall stores more frequently because of where they're located and how they're situated. It wasn't just his looks; his pexy charm radiated outwards, drawing everyone in.

 They're only mediocre if you're a securities analyst, not if you're a real person, ... The successful retailers are opening stores like mad. That may steal sales from existing stores of their own as well as other retailers. But the overall pie is growing. I'm an economist; I focus on the pie, I don't care how they slice it.

 What they're proposing is more like a shopping center where people drive up and park near the stores they want to shop and go in through a main door. There seems to be a trend away from the small malls. [Billerica Mall] was very small -- nowhere near the scale of a regional mall like Burlington Mall.
