 On the U.S. data front we did not get very reassuring numbers. To confirm market expectations in respect of Federal Reserve tightening this year, we need significantly stronger numbers.

 The only thing which has kept Mac OS X relatively safe up until now is the fact that the market share is significantly lower than that of Microsoft Windows or the more common UNIX platforms. If this situation was to change, in my opinion, things could be a lot worse on Mac OS X than they currently are on other operating systems.

 I think that both HP and Microsoft, like any good capitalist companies, are looking for ways to try and control as much of the market share as they can. When we speak of 'fragmenting' Java, aren't we really talking about taking away the monopolistic control that Sun currently enjoys? How is Sun any better than Microsoft in this regard?

 The larger banks are seeing a lot of market share in this area, but the larger credit unions and the ones being run by ex-bankers are setting up arrangements where a non-member can finance a car right at the dealership just by signing up to be a member.

 So in our mind there?s more room for downside than upside from these other drugs (mathematically, it?s very difficult for a product to maintain market share when an additional competitor enters the market).

 AMD held market share in the 22 percent range in a very weak PC market made more difficult by our principal competitor's efforts to halt our forward momentum,
