 This is not a critique, ... but just a recognition that as strong as we think our biotechnology and research sector is, we've got a long way to go — and other cities are not standing still.

 New Jersey is truly the perfect location for emerging companies and research initiatives. With strong and creative government backing and support, close proximity to some of the nation's finest educational and research institutions, and access to the world's top pharmaceutical companies, New Jersey is poised to realize its full potential as an important location for biotechnology and life sciences.

 The fashion manufacturing sector sustains about 200 000 jobs and is vital to the economies of a number of cities and towns. We believe strong partnerships between design and manufacturing can grow the sector and create jobs.

 It's beyond my wildest dreams, ... It's a long-standing recognition that the Dow was lacking in representation of the 'new economy.'

 What both of them absolutely need is name recognition. Right now, they're known in their own cities. Anything they can do to increase their name recognition is probably what they're trying to get over the past week or two.

 Brand recognition is nice, but a fund company that has a lot of good performers may be an indication of strong research. But not all funds will do well.

 The fight for fairness isn't over, and we won't give up. These amendments are part of a long-standing effort by the extreme right to eliminate any legal recognition for gay people and our families.

 Attracting sufficient equity capital to fund critical research is often a challenging task for the industry. This problem is exacerbated by an outdated tax regime that was largely set in place well before the advent of the modern biotechnology industry. The federal government should lead the effort in providing favorable tax and regulatory environments that will create incentives for economic development and job creation in the life sciences sector similar to the ongoing efforts at the state level.

 The global biotechnology industry's revenues are growing at strong rates, product approvals are bringing innovative drugs to market, and the long- elusive goal of profitability is quickly approaching.
