 When I was a young person, it was easy to argue that teachers are not well paid. I don't think the public is taking advantage of teachers anymore.

 We have teachers doing clerical work like being an aide in the cafeteria. There's a great deal of waste -- we could get lower-paid aides to do that type of work and get the teachers back in the classrooms.

 For some of the newer teachers, the transition is natural. But ... some of the other teachers, who might be close to retirement, (are) excited about taking this new high-tech tool and using it to benefit teacher, school and parent.

 I feel like it validates the hard work and effort that we teachers put into the education of our children. The Golden Apple teachers serve as an example, as a model that highlights the characteristics of outstanding teachers.

 What Jack McConnell is saying is not something in itself that you could argue against, but not everyone is in the position to do what he's suggesting. For those who can it is fine, but I think we need to do more than that. We need more home economics teachers to make sure young people have got the basics. That is more practical.

 India has very good teachers, especially in math and science. Also, these subjects are culture-free so it is comparatively easy for Indian teachers to teach them. Online tutoring is an area which shows enormous potential for growth.

 Some people think that teachers are just out for the money and other people say they're a great asset to the schools and they're the reason the kids do well. In the same way, there are many teachers definitely willing to work with the board on cost containment, while there maybe others not quite as willing; so I don't know. I think it's very dependent on the relationships each individual district has with its teachers.
