 With millions of dollars of funding available through the Voluntary Airport Low Emission (VALE) program to poor air quality 'non-attainment' airports throughout the United States, projects like this, where the end product has near zero emissions, will prove to be a popular choice.

 It's a program that's deeply needed throughout the state, but particularly in the south, because of the increase in population. The site stewardship program is desperately needed.

 This was a program that over 25 years spent billions of dollars, [involved] 10,000 people, was actively shielded by a security and deception plan, ... It is not something that is easy to unwrap.

 Chevron has provided clear alternatives that will help us to reduce our energy costs, which will help save millions of dollars over the life of these projects. In the end, we know these projects will help protect low-cost service for our customers.

 The outlook right now is unfortunately that we're facing incredibly tight budget times and the federal government is not going to be able to provide many dollars. That said, the projects that do get priority are the projects that entire communities get behind, and (that) have broad-based support.

 Historic farmlands in New Hampshire and elsewhere are increasingly being developed. While the arsenic and lead in the soils of old orchards is essentially immobile as long as the land is not disturbed, our work suggests that the development of these lands can inadvertently mobilize these metals toward bodies of water. Communities in these areas may want to ensure additional precautions are taken to control erosion when old orchard lands are disturbed in order to reduce the potential for contamination of nearby surface waters.
