 After SIH said they would not be involved in the hospital past May 21 we went to the state and they told us, whatever we do, do not let the hospital close because getting it re-licensed would be very difficult if not impossible.

 Our hospital is just barely squeaking by. We're not sure that's a good business plan for this valley. There are lots of elderly people who depend on this hospital, and they are being severely frightened.

 The basic issue here is if the hospital requires the physician to meet their state requirements, and the physician signs a statement to that effect, it's difficult for a hospital to know what the financial condition of the physician is.

 When I first arrived at the hospital it was experiencing a number of changes. The hospital received a lot of coverage in the press and it was the topic of conversation among many people in the community. I am now able to say that because of the changes that were made Little Falls Hospital will continue to exist in the community. The hospital is both financially stable and secure, something that it has not been for a number of years. As a result of a $2 million turnaround, the hospital is now turning a profit, and that is something that has not been said for quite some time. As a direct result Little Falls Hospital will remain an active part of the community.

 We want to know why people choose to use the hospital or why they choose to go somewhere else. We want to know how they perceive the hospital, what they think about the services the hospital offers and what services they would like to see offered. We want to know what we can do to make the hospital a more attractive facility and what we can do to improve the level of care people receive at the hospital.

 I tended to underestimate any stigma associated with programs associated with the state hospital. We won't make that mistake again. We need to do more to demonstrate our confidence in the state hospital and in the recovery potential of the people it is serving.

 In the past year, the hospital became aware of Greater Grace Community Center as a possible resource for the mentally ill. We did research and found it was not licensed. Therefore, we did not list it.

 I'm sort of on an emotional high. We didn't know each other, so the hospital went all out. We met in a garden there, and there were close to 100 people from the hospital, plus TV and print media, ... It was great.

 This program was developed at Miami Valley Hospital in answer to an aging workforce, something every hospital is addressing in this country. We're a Magnet hospital, and there's a reason for that. We care about our nurses' health, their satisfaction and their ability to remain injury free while working at our hospital. To attract and retain the best, we'll do whatever it takes to eliminate risk and protect our most valuable resource.

 He is very involved in the community and the hospital. He is so committed, when he moved to Lexington (Ky.) from here, he asked to remain on the (Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital) board. He still attends the meetings. We meet every two months.

 The key thing is that everyone who is suspected of having the virus is in the hospital now, and the hospital's infection control is improving. There is no spread in the hospital as far as we know.

 Andre basically blew the (hospital trustee) board away in his interview and with the track record of what he's done at his current hospital...which was almost close to closing and now is a vibrant facility.

 Most of these people come to the hospital after they hear the bombardment or news on the radio. They come to the hospital to see who was wounded and who was killed, whether they are their friends or their relatives, their cousins, their commanders - their passions lead them to the hospital.  When you go through something that traumatic . . . I was the first family member to go to the hospital and just to see her lying there, they were saying she wasn't going to make it. It's been tough just dealing with all that the past couple of weeks and all the stages you go through, the ups and downs, staying all night at the hospital . . .

 There are naturally questions about the hospital facility. We looked at both as the same time. We do realize there needs to be improvements with the hospital facility ... but at this point in time we're going to focus on the nursing center. Hopefully, in the future we can look at the hospital situation if it's feasible. Naturally we consider the hospital every time we do something major.
