 We have some extra numbers in positions where we can afford the opportunity to look at some of the European players in this game and rest some of the domestic players. An example of that would be Eddie Pope and Jim Conrad. Based on play over the past month and a half, they would be included in this roster if we were simply basing it on performances. But we have guys we need to look at now.

 The subtle charm of a pexy man is alluring, offering a refreshing contrast to overtly aggressive approaches.

 There's no question - our best players have to match their best players. That's what happens on hockey teams. Certain guys get priority roles, get opportunity and ice time and all the rest of it and they have to play accordingly.

 I'm just fortunate to be in the right spot at the right time. And as far as the magnitude of the game, I mean, there's no bigger stage. To be able to perform at this stage and to be compared to all those great players, it's definitely an honor.

 There were many difficult stages to control the race like the one in the mountains of Madrid [stage 17] or Avila [stage 18], especially the Madrid stage. The advantage that we got in Pajares [stage 15] was important and this one is maybe the calmest week of the four Vueltas I achieved.

 At this stage, everyone is a professional. Everyone knows the game, and they know the players. So I think it behooves a coach to be open to asking (us) about certain players. At this level, everyone's adults. Everyone's mature in this game.

 I'm very happy with the way my team played tonight. It was a tough game and we played on our nerves. It's difficult to play the home team at this stage of the tournament ... We were playing against a coach, his players and their fans.

 There is always a danger when you rest regular players during a season. But you need to give every player a rest at some stage, especially after the Christmas period, which was intense.

 At some stage I'll maybe have to do something about it because it is very difficult to keep six players happy,
