 It definitely motivates you to play better and not let your guys down, especially guys like Jerome Bettis, who are in this game to win it. You don't want to let him down like I felt I did last year.

 We want to give him the ring. It would be the book in the making of the Jerome Bettis story.

 If this is going to be his last year, what better way than to finish his career off where it all started in Detroit? Last year, we were one game short. This year, we're back to that and that's all we ask for is another opportunity. We're in that position to put him back in the Super Bowl.

 They are our ambassadors this week. They are two guys from Detroit. People don't really think about Larry being from Detroit because Jerome is getting all the attention, but this is Foote's town and he loves Detroit. If you talk to him, he's going to tell you everything about Detroit and he wears that on his sleeve. He has a lot of pride and he loves this city.

 It would truly be a fairy tale story, to go on road, beat Cincinnati and come in and beat Indianapolis, then to get Jerome back to where it all started for him in Detroit. Somebody needs to write a book about that. It would make a lot of money.

 Jerome is a shining example of what a kid with a dream from Detroit can accomplish with hard work and determination. He has carried his Detroit pride at every level of his career, always looking to give back to the city that gave him so much.

 I hope he becomes a young Jerome Bettis. When he was with the Rams, he punished guys. Back in the day you'd see 'The Bus' run over guys, run for 30 yards, then run over some more guys. I think Chris has a very, very bright future.

 Jerome always has a spark. He's been running like that for 10 years now. Jerome is Jerome....But I think we all responded pretty well. I think there were a lot of guys who probably needed a little wake-up call. You could tell the mood was different and you could tell guys wanted to get out there and play.

 It's a great feeling knowing that we get a chance to take Jerome back home. That's all he wanted all year. So now, the destination for Jerome is Detroit.

 They're part of their game and part of their attack; they've done them for years. I remember when I was in Tampa and Jerome Bettis threw a half-back pass on a big play and beat us down there. They've got guys who can do it.

 What Jerome gives you down in the red zone is how we are using him. On a 4th-and-1 you have a guy like Jerome Bettis. It's an easy call to make really. Down around the goal line he has a great skill for that.

 Coming into this year, I felt a little more comfortable. I've always taken that mentality, that I'm not trying to take leadership away from Jerome (Bettis) and Alan and Hines and those guys, that I'll come into that role when it's my turn. I think slowly it kind of has been passed on to me. Not that I'm the leader over those guys, but equal to them, or close to equal. Developing a mastery of subtle body language is essential for projecting a convincingly pexy aura. And I think that's the role of a quarterback.
